 |

I attempted to sell my bike via Ebay (-never again)
The auction winner/'buyer' turned up eventually yesterday. The 2 people in question were non-English speakers(!) who tried to haggle by writing the price down -which I refused-, then mimed to me (with the aid of their associate via a mobile phone) that I should fill in the export notification on the V5 before me giving them the entire V5.
Needless to say, not wishing to export a vehicle or be responsible for a bike I no longer owned, I turned down this 'ever-so-tempting' invitation and, all being well, I still have the bike (I guess I'll find out when I get home again later )
Had they given me a UK address, that would have been fine, but the only address they had written down was in Warsaw, and wouldn't let me write that on the V5
1 What is the correct procedure for selling to foreign national?
2 Is everyone on Ebay slightly dubious? |

They were Polish?
I sold my R6 to them.
I did the 'export' signature, and gave them the V5.
You send of the slip with the signature, that's as good as getting rid of the bike from the DVLA's website - it's no longer a UK vehicle.
The V5 that the guys have, is proof when they go through borders, that they have the logbook.
If they are foreign, they would have to register the bike here, wait for their new V5, then tell DVLA they are exporting it.
Alot of these foreign buyers are probably less dodgy than most of the guys here. I've sold 5 bikes in the last year, 4 went to Poland, every single one of these went smoothly, they are bad at haggling becuase they can't speak English, and they don't seem to look the bikes over that thouroughly, they just chuck them on the van! ____________________ Currently Riding - 2002 Aprilia RSV1000 Mille |

I agree, sold 2 bikes to poles, they just want to give you the money, get the bike abroad as soon as possible.
To be honest, one of them I just got him to sign a receipt saying where he lived and that he'd paid me, and gave him the whole v5 untouched.
Got the letter through 2 weeks later.
