Going to Wales next weekend for 3 days. Eight of us to Tenby and Barmouth. Any roads to avoid or recommend ? Cheers, Bill.

The whole of the A470 is good fun. It goes right down the middle from North to South.

However, North Wales in particular does not welcome motorcyclists, courtesy of the derranged lunatic they have for a chief constable. If he had his way, they would all be banned.

Their policing strategy is based around this.

If you see vans, horseboxes, furniture removal trucks etc. parked at the side of the road, there could well be a camera in it.

Based on where you're going it sounds like you're gonna do A487 to A478 up the coast?

Lovely scenery along there, recommend it. Just beware the camera vans.

When I was there last September I got told by a police motorcyclist that the police in Wales are out to get bikers. Make sure your plate & exhaust are legal or else budget extra money into your trip to pay the on the spot fines.

The road to Ponderosa cafe is a nice ride if it is not too busy and it is not really that far from Bala.
