Battery is charging from external charger but not holding a charge. It would be unfortunate if I was the first person to suffer this problem, so I wondered if anyone had any experience of it? Should I expect any major difficulties in identifying where the problem is or fixing it?
Thanks. |
perfectly feasible that's it's the alternator, though as suggested a multimeter check while it's running will tell you whether it's charging or not. Look out for immobiliser/alarm malfunction, this happened to me once, I took the bike to Suzuki, new battery, new alternator windings, same issue, they disconnected the alarm/immobiliser and sorted, just wish i'd av thought of that before hand. |

Thanks Luke - I recently bought a new crankcase gasket and touch wood nothing else will require any work. You selling any tarty bits (I need a new rear hugger) or did everything go with the bike?
OT - how's it feel to be without an R6 in years?
Charged the battery of the bike and was reading 12.3V. Connected it back up and was when revving to 5000 with lights on was dropping to roughly 11.5V. Going to pick up a Rec on ebay and failing that will look into the alternator - Blue_SV650S thanks for the heads up. |
