With the ship and bike gear nearly with us after its 3 months cruise to get here, maybe a track day to cheer me up is in order. Only real track as far as I can gather is that of Mallala. Its a 45 minute drive from us and looks quite a circuit compared to the Indy at Brands.

Not sure that the little ped will cut it so the question is hire bikes.

Again, only managed to find one company so far and the prices are as follows. (Prices are according to exchange rates at the time)

Arrow Track day £135
Arrow CBR600RR bike hire £235
Arrow Insurance if crashed £1900

From what I understand from the wording is that the insurance money will be taken as almost a deposit and will go to pay for the first £1900 worth of repairs to the bike.

Money for the track day seems spot on and the bike hire cheap at half the price. What about the insurance money for repairs? Is it steep or about right? Are there any hidden things to look out for such as mechanical failure being charged at your fault?

That seems expensive for the trackday - which track is it? Anyway, I digress. IIRC when I hired a bike through focused events, they took a 500squid deposit, if the damage was over that then they take more from you.

If you dropped it, no matter what, regardless of any damage that was it for the day (well at least that's what they said). That $4k charge does seem hefty.

Trick is not to bin it! That shouldn't be a problem if you're sensible, which, apart from your penchant for sticking bits of metal in places they really shouldn't go, you seem to be! Razz

As for mechanical failures, the first bike I had on the day I rented started blowing oil out of one of the crankcases (from previous damage), I pointed this out and they swapped the bike. I can't imagine they would stop your day for mechanical failure, but I know how anal these guys can be over here, so just check first!
