I’m too old and too crap … and I've come to the conclusion that the former will prevent the latter from ever being any different!!
Basically I bought an MX bike to realise some boyhood dreams, I now realise I am a bit to old to do it, I don't regret it as I can chalk it up as summin I have done!!
Been out on it today, got home and I ache like feck, can barely move ... and its not like I was even going fast … shudda taken it up when I was 7 and all flexible and fearless!!
Anyone want a YZ125? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

£700 for an easy sale.
It cost me more than that ...
I've spent ~£250 on parts for it recently (replaced all the rear swingarm bearings, the rear shock linkage bearings, rear wheel bearings, the lot!! ... also fitted a full Renthal C&S kit!! So that stuff (which is all a pain in the posterior to do and expensive) is all fresh and good to go!! ).
Its in the Portsmouth area, you in Scotland or summin?!!? .. that could curtail things slightly!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I'll give it a good clean and take some pics of it (I want to replace the FRONT wheel bearings too, so its tight all round).
You may have seen the 'proofs' of these before, but here are some pics of the bike/me that I bought and have scanned in.
As I said, will take some pics of bike after I have cleaned it.
But basically its a bit scruffy round the edges, but mechanically sound, which is all that matters/mattered to me! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Cool pic, cool vid ... even I can double the one at the end ... just a shame I can't clear that table top like they do .... I can clear the tabletop near the carpark though
Do you ride at tonymoto much then? ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Going to the gym has meant I haven't ached too badly (managed tonymoto yesterday and ashdown today) but still having problems with my lower arms while riding - definitely the first point that's starting to suffer.
I expect you're faster than me as it is, but I'm still enjoying it for the whole 'challenge' thing . It does seem too, that the faster you go the smoother rider you get, so the easier it gets, etc.
Oh and I think I understand more why people are going 4 stroke more - for pros it probably actually makes less difference, but it'd definitely be nice to have a smoother power delivery. The bigger enduro bikes (250/300) do offer this, but the bigger motocross bikes still have much more of a 'hit', which I was having trouble with on my smaller bike . |

I've only ridden there once or twice and it was that long ago that I can't remember if it was once or twice. Only on the B track on a big fat DRZ, also.
I just went yesterday to take pics. |

Sadly I ache most mornings!! ... I'm falling apart I tell ya!! I do need to work on my fitness though ... I used to be super fit (for an average joe .. not world scale obviously ) ... been a bit lazy this past year
The 4-strokes deffo seem the way to go, but if you look at that sideline vid I made, the fastest guy there was on a 2-stroke YZ125 (look at him triple it at >=35s in!! (no one else was) ).

Is the B track the little track?

I think once you get properly good, it doesn't really matter because you're on it all the time. I wouldn't mind giving a 250f a go, but wouldn't buy one for the weight (more important to have low weight for enduro) and nasty maintenance.
The B track seemed to be more 'mid sized' - looked like I'd have still been challenged riding that . |

How old are you? My Dad had to give up MX ten or so years ago, took up enduro instead and loves it.
He's 55 now, his knees were being battered before with MX, now he's got it much more sedate with only the occasional branch in the eye and broken heel. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

I've got a mental age of about 5, but my bodys age seems like 85!!
I'm certainly old enough to know when I am too old and knackered for summin as intense as MX!!
Its more the mental than the physical that is holding me back to be honest, but the combination of the two means I won't be getting significantly better any time soon .. and I know all to well I am gonna end up hurting myself BIG if I carry on at it half-a55ed ... I'm riding round with a mix of disappointment in myself for not trying harder and poohing my pants .. and there isn't much point in that is there!!!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Anyone interested, browse the photo gallery I made.
