Has anyone got a copy of this months Bike magazine handy? There's an interesting article in there on speed cameras and speed related accidents. It would be interesting to ask some of the questions that they raised, quote some of the figures and the admission they got out of the DFT.

Its a dual carridgeway and at the end theres a dirty 30mph camera
the rider was going 70 odd and breaked fell off and hit the kerb near the bus stop.
its very missleading they should use other measures to slow u down before otherwise everyone slams there breaks on from 60 to 30 Shocked

There should definitely be better warnings about camera's. Many people ignore the signs because there is rarely a camera following it. The scare tatics don't work. When there is a camera people just slow down then.

If they had a set space between signs and cameras you would think, there's a camera in X metres. This would mean that you would be able to slow down carefully. Would this happen? No, because then they wouldn't be able to make money from them.
Should this happen? Yes, it would make the road safer in the areas of the camera, the whole intial reason for speed cameras anyway.

Sorry I just wanted to get my point across! Embarassed

Last year on Top Gear (Yeah I know its for cages) they did an experiment with a speed camera. I think if you go past it at about 120 mph it doesn't even notice that you went through Wink

(Not suggesting anyone try it unless on a long stretch of runway with plenty of breaking distance)

I heard it was more in the 250mph range to beat them. I think hear that off top gear as well.
