There will be some on here wetting themselves with glee at getting one over on the "Man/scvm/nazi" councils .

It does however raise the question on why the properties are vacant, is it because they are not fit to be let out and require upgrading, are they being held vacant while the land around them is being made vacant ready to sell to developers, or some other reason?

The squatters IIRC should not break into any property to gain access and all the hundreds of properties I have seen vacant have been well and truly secured. So any access gained by the squatters would or could be classed as burglary with said burglars being dealt with accordingly.

The properties are sitting vacant, and these appear to be only the council owned ones.
Once you get past the daily heil slant, it's just a case of squatters finding a list of publically owned, empty buildings to live in. Shock horror, they smoked weed and crack, and had a whole 6 rounds of live ammunition (these could just be shotgun shells) and no mention of a firearm to use them with.

If no-one else is using the building, then they can't complain is the squatters do. If they want to stop squatters using the buildings, then they need to be using them as council houses.

Result all round I think.

Unless the reason the council cannot find genuine tennants is because they cant bring the premises up to standard/show the properties due to the squatters being in situ.

The council may spend thousands upgrading a property to let out, only for squatters to jump in at the last minute.

Got to have a bit of sympathy with the situation of the council here, they currently have 45 properties they cannot let out due to squatters, and face the expense of legal action to remove them, however they will just consult the list and move to the next property.

A constant drain on the council funds which no doubt could be spend elsewhere to benefit the community on the whole rather than wasted on individuals determined not to pay their way..

Squatters.....the vast majority are young, in their 20s & 30s. Why haven't they got a job?
They are always crusty and soap-dodging in look, and I bet most of them at least, are doley scum.
These cunts aren't squatting for lack of affordable housing, they are scrounging, drug taking, louse-ridden, work-shy anarchistic wankers of the highest order.
Whenever you see these people on TV or in the street, most of them are constantly scratching their stinking scabby hair and bodies.

Oh and Didge, my old man lived in a squat for a long time whilst writing his PhD. And working as a Clerk at Ladbrokes. He had two kids though, so rode a battered old Bantam that hardly ever worked and dressed in the cheapest clothes in the charity shops because he was spending money on decent clothes and food for me and my sis.

I think you really need to think about what you are talking about.

Normally the people you see on telly, or the people you meet who make a big point of living in a squat are pretty much what you described. However if you went around a few you would see that alot of them are either like my dad, in education with no spare cash, or following alternative ideas such as actual self sufficiency (I know a few places where the occupents are as self sufficient as realistically possible).

And so what if they smoke a bit of weed and don't wash their hair, so do many people on estates all over the country, and the council have to pay to keep their houses in a livable state from your taxes.

Yes it does actually.

I'm not talkig about everyone, these are select people I know, I probably know more of them than other squatters because of my parents, but my point is that there are more than a few "exceptions to the rules", especially if you look in places like North Wales, where they are all over the place.
