How is it done without the idiotic swap trick? that is bad for the equipment I am not willing to do this even if it does work.

I have a Smart Cartridge, but all it yields is a START screen or a occasionally E.M.S Interactive - Loading, the person I bought it from told me it could bypass the region code as it boots the ps1 from the cartridge and skips the sony screens, which it does, but it won't boot my imports (NTSC-U)

My console is SCPH-1002, the one with all the audiophile bollocks surrounding the fact it has RCA outs.

Does anyone know if a parralel port cartridge is actually capable of bypassing the region lockout, and if not, do they have a link to information on where to solder on a bypass over the console's security chip?

Thing, is, I just got Chrono Cross, this is a US/JAP only release, I am trying to avoid pissing about with step downers and actually importing a console as well.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, I am a die-hard squaresoft gamer and now it is time for Chrono Cross to be enjoyed.

Soul.

Edit : Just in case people might hold back something thinking these are not original games, they are.

I was using the PS "Power Replay" cartridge in mine, played all the imports I threw at it with no problem so yes, it's definitely possible to bypass the region locks via parallel port.

I have found out how to use the cartridge to play the game, but it is in black and white, and I KNOW my tv supports 60hz picture.

Is the afore mentioned patching process necessary to play in colour?

MAny thanks guys.

I have no RGB on the tv, have ordered a NTSC to PAL converter so that I can do composite.

Cheers to anyone who gave a toss, but I've got it locked now.

No, thanks for pointing that out, I didn't realise there was a difference between PAL 60 and NTSC, the amount of lines ect I have just educated myself due to that comment.
