I believe I was christened when I was a baby, I am not happy about this as no one asked my opinion on it.
Is it possible to be un-christened, sort of cast out of the church? If I do have an immortal soul I do not want that lot having any claim on it.

Its OK Ariel old chum, because if you follow the rules in the bible or somewhere then you are supposed to be 'confirmed' as a Christian at the age of about thirteen. If you don't do this, then you aren't a real Christian and when your time comes you can tell the Archangel Gabriel to sod off.

There was a piece on the news about this a week ago or so - you simply sign a form declaring your intentions and get the local priest to sign it .... I will try and find the details, but suspect google will tell you all.

It imparts an ontological change which is irreversible (or it is a load of bollocks). Blame your parents/guardians not the church they decided to have it done to you. Still it may be of use one day and it is doing no harm that I can tell.

If you want to make a anti-church protest waffling on about something your parents decided to do would not be high on my list. Why not go to you local vicar/priest and have a chat about it?

Or Sond’s idea, whatever.

Sond's idea would just get me, both literally and metaphorically, deeper into the church.

I don't need a certificate to tell people that I don't believe in supernatural beings. Seems like a waste of time to me.

watched the news clip again .... I suspect its not quite what you want, in the sense that the church do not recognise it... so its simply a declaration that you are making to anyone that will listen Thinking

The end result is that the Lord has you and you are one of his children... and he will f you up if you try and leave blud !

My Dad was brought up as a Roman Catholic Christian and met my Mum who was brought up as a Protestant Christian. My maternal Grandfather stipulated that Dad could only marry my Mum if they married in the Protestant Church, so my Dad was ex-communicated from the RC Church - job done! Laughing Rolling Eyes

Saw that discussed on the news. Apparantly the Church will enter the date you declared yourself free of them into the records.

However if you were cristianed RC they refuse to enter it so you are fucked.

If you were cristianed RC chances are you are going to Hell anyway

I think about this also. I wasnt asked if I wanted to be christened or make my holy cummion in that stupid dress or confess to a priest. I made up lies as to be honest swearing was the badest thing I done at that age Rolling Eyes

Now I am faced with this again , My family want William chrstened and I bloody well dont as I want him choose when he is older or even not choose at all what religion he follows after he learns there is more than one out there. I think its stupid. Schools wont except you here if you arnt baptised! Shocked sorry but what is splashing water over a babies head determin if you get into a school or not? I am a rebel I refuse to go along that path Mad he will learn in a mixed school there is more than one religion here and not that his one is always right like i was taught.

Can you tell I am in an angry mood today Evil or Very Mad

I want to be debaptised to! I dont want to be assiocated with pedos and money launderes! I live beside priests and nuns and you know how much their houses are worth half a million! I see him in his house in his black robe walking about, and the oes on the other end of me is more than half a mill as they have a bigger garden than me and the other priest with the dam merc. Where they get the money to treat them to that???thought they where meant to be in poverty?

My mum keeps annoying me about this stupid christening! Evil or Very Mad

My Dad was banned from Church when I was born. The Priest was coming over to chat to my Mum about Baptism, but she wasn't there when the priest arrived. By the time she turned the Priest had stormed off, banning my Dad from coming back.

I escaped Baptism because my Dad tried to convince the Priest that God doesn't exist.

Even though l don't believe in god",s" or any form of organized religion l see my baptism as a child as a kind of third party insurance for when l die in case l was wrong, though by making this post l,ve probably voided the policy. Laughing

Good subject Thumbs Up .
Got myself into a lot of hot water when my cousin was christened aunt asked if i was christened. I just said no im not that a person should have the right to chose what they follow and not have a religion forced upon them from birth. Needless to say it went down like a ton of bricks and a fair few people didnt speak to me for a while till they needed something. Mr. Green

And to quote what a catholic preist said to me once GOD FORGIVES ALL.
Dont think god liked him as i watched the church burn down a few days later after an arson attack.

So even if i have made a fuckup in not beleiving and all this crap is true. Im fine because god forgives me Mr. Green Mr. Green
