It's around the 33hp mark, but as it's the motor from the dr350 it should be pretty tourque. It's moderatley light at around 145kg (I think) and should be fairly 'flickable'.

If you do a search for it on here there's a few other threads where we've discussed it.

The USD forks are the most expensive parts to replace... so if u think ur gonna have a crash try and get in in the side instead Wink

Anyone have any idea of 0-60? insurance group? top speed?

its cheap and I like the quirkiness but faired 400s are alot cooler. I'm tempted to go down to the shop cos they've got a lot in. Plus at that price I should get at least a straight swap for my 125! but the site says 'fair' condition so it could have problems.

nothing exactly wrong with it - but it is only 33 bph, so its only attractive to newbies, its unfaired and modern looking, and the japanese market is going retro or race rep, and its an import, so numbers are low.

as for the bike itself, don't expect blazing performance from a big single - power starts about 3000 rpm, below that the chain snatch and chugging is awful, and redline around 10k, with the power kept low and useable, so dont expect to race a vfr or cbr 4, but still beat any car.

also single vibration is not nice - my cb is a little better now i have foam rubber handles, but the footpegs vibrate painfully on the motorway sometimes.

i dont think its made any more, and parts will be difficult but not impossible to get hold of, but dont expect to find parts in the m&p catalogue or in a breakers, they'll have to be genuine suzuki and new. If you want one and intend to crash it, find a mechanic that is good at straightening and fixing stuff.

if this is of interest to you, also have a look at the yam SRX400. Good for shortarses, bad if your 6'0 or over, 33 bhp single cylinder 400, also an import but more of them around the goose.
https://www.bonanzamotorcycles.co.uk/ have a whole bunch of them in various condition, pay around 1,200 for a decent one that is registered.

By most standards I wouldn't be considered a 'newbie', but I am considering getting one (adimttadley as a second bike to my 100hp 600 Smile )

I liked the engine on my klr and the dr engine shouldn't be that much less powerfull, but in a better handling and lighter chassis.
Personally I think the lower power of a big single is 'enough' as you've got plenty of tourqe to have fun with, with out the licence-losing speed medium-big 4s tempt you with Twisted Evil

It is a good bike for newbies but if you know what your doing you could have some fun on it as well.
110mph and lots of torque meaning at least a sub 6 second 0-60 time is good enough for me. If I buy one it will be as an alternative to my 125 2 stroke rather than a 'move up'. 4 stroke (dr350 workhorse) reliability, same insurance, cheap to buy and more power. How can you loose? Very Happy

the torque isn't that great at these low capacities, because it is quite a narrow power band, 3 - 7 if you want to keep out of the red and stop your legs getting hot. bags of torque compared to a 2 stroke of course, but i think with a twin you can cruise in one gear easier than a single, you need quite a lot of gearbox work to keep it in the Good Place.
