Hey Guys!

I have got access to some aftermarket gaskets for the NSR RK, I don't have access to genuine Honda stuff from Sri Lanka! Mad

So any ideas on how I could check if these are good quality, I mean is there anything i should look out for in good gaskets?

Cheers for the help! Smile

Hi

Who made then?

TO be honest, on a bike I have never had problems with non OE gaskets. Used them all the time on the MBX

All the best

cheers keith!

I am restoring my RK piece by piece.. just gave the fairings in for a paint job, should get them back next week!! I wish I could paint them myself.. have done it before, but I want the colours matched perfectly Cool

I just gave my seat to a fibre specialist and gave a design for a single seat conversion! Should be interesting!!

I'm getting HRC, NGK & Ohlins stickers done for about 4 quid each!! Bargain? Anybody need stickers? Smile

I'm wondering if I should replace the piston and rings (I have a taiwanese set), the bike has done 10000 miles, is it normal to get them changed so soon?

Have to change fork seals too!

Hi

Check the condition of the rings (and check the ring end gap), but they may well be OK at that mileage. I am a bit dubious about using non OE pistons, mainly because on the MBX it was an achievement to get non Honda pistons to last long enough to be run in!

All the best

Thanks Keith!

Also, any possiblity of using new rings with the old piston?

If I do replace piston with rings - do I have to run-in for a few 100 KMs? What are your recommendations?

If I do replace rings only- do I have to run-in the engine at all?

Cheers for the response mate!

Smile

You better replace the piston when you put new rings on!! Some cunt obviously siezed my bike before I had it, had either a new or replated the barrel, new rings, but kept the same crummy piston, and now it's ballsed!! So change the bastard Evil or Very Mad

Hi

If the piston is in OK condition then just replace the rings (check the gap in the piston that the rings sit in). If the piston is worn out or showing signs of having been seized then repace it . Be very dubious about mixing pattern rings with the original piston.

In either case run the bike in. I tend to work on 500km at half the red line max, and then up that by 1000rpm for every 100km, aiming to be thrashing the knackers off it at 1000km. That may be a bit excessive though

All the best

Hunter, I'm in Dire need of stickers. Just need 2 big NSR, 2 Honda's, 2 Honda "Wings" and maybe 2 "supersport" or something. I keep trying ppl but had no real luck so far. Not looking at a full racing set or anything, just a few to ID the bike after I painted it
