Hello,
looks like Ive found a buyer for my srad750 motor and he wants the thing posted to him Shocked .
I dont mind doing it but never done this before so has anyone got any recommendations like a good courier company, for me as Im sure Im gonna have to crate this thing up but also dont know where I would get a crate from for this?

Can anyone help

How far away is the guy?? You may be able to pick up a flightcase of ebay locally to you for a stupidly low price that would fit the engine in. Then send it in that??
I have one that you could have but doubt you'll be anywhere near me!

You could always strap it down to a wooden pallet and put a sheet over it and send it on a pallet truck??

Get a pallet and strap it on. Make sure you drain all the fluids and even then make sure the engine is fully covered in pallet wrap to stop any liquids that may seep out during transit.

There's nothing that will piss a courier off more than oil dripping out.

For sending it you are best off looking for a pallet shipping company, Roadferry are one such company although I would check on their policy for sending engines based on what I said about oil dripping.

You could probably find a pallet from an industrial estate and make a crate from that.

There's lots of couriers you can use you'll just need to ring and get a quote. So have the dimensions and weight ready.

Try ringing:

DHL
APC
Citylink
TNT

If its going to cost too much to send it by courier you could get him to arrange a courier to pick it up. Perhaps hire a van or something if you don't mind driving and get him to pay for that.

Loads of couriers on ebay who use DHL as their transport.

Just sent a DT50 engine, swingarm and a few other bits , weighing about 25kg for less than a tenner

I think Mick's hit it on the head really. Just make sure you use loads of shrink wrap.

Or you could deliver it yourself if he's local and take 50p a mile or something. Thumbs Up

Most carriers dont like leaky bits of stuff that contained petrol, maybe a little white lie is needed

alot of couriers will be able to do it and could do it online if you look it up
