Over 100,000hp at 102rpm, its a 14 cylinder, 25,000 litre beast!
I always wondered if you could fit inside the worlds biggest engine cylinder, It turns out that with an 8ft stroke and a 3ft wide cylinder it would actualy fit several people!
The engine even has steps down into the sump and stairs around the outside its so big.

Its a two stroke too .... I wouldn't want to have to rebuild that every 9000 miles.

A stroke of luck that the manufacturer claims it will outlast the tanker its fitted to wiyhout ever needing a rebuild Thumbs Up

Actualy when i found this i was looking for the biggest 4t engine, found nothing impressive on that front though Sad

2 stroke diesels are a little different. Lubricating oil is actually squirted onto the bottom of the piston on this engine. It will run forever and ever, especially as it is a very slow speed engine.

A lot of larger diesels are 2-stroke (though sadly no longer on the road, as they can't pass emissions requirements).

Have seen videos of large 2-strokes from the 1930s running perfectly today.

I wonder how they start the fucker? My guess is a large diesel pony engine.

piston changes are around every 10000 hours use, exhaust valves and injectors are sooner Laughing

most two stroke diesels are air started from large bottles to get the engine turning Thumbs Up

The writing on the wall behind looks to me very much like Hangul. I would be very surprised to see Hangul in use in a Japanese works, very surprised indeed.

Alot of ships are built in korea, so they build the engine there, then build the ship around it. That original article has a few things wrong with it, like saying the engine runs on crude oil Laughing
