i got rear ended by an audi on tuesday which is pleasant when i am about to sell it!

couple of questions if i sell it will i be out of a claim? can the bike get looked at if its in someone elses hands? Do i still need to be insured on that bike until the claim has been done and dusted?

any help fully appreciated

I'd assume that you'd have to still be insured on that bike for the claim to go through. Otherwise they'd wonder why you're trying to get extra money out of it, even though you'd successfully gotten the money from selling it...

Ring your insurance company - you may find they will hurry an assessor visit if you explain that you are selling it. Any damage would have to be inspected.

Sell it without the insurance say so and basically forgo the claim. IMO.

I would 1st check that the buyer still want's the bike.......

If there is enough damage to warrent a claim, then if you are P/X the bike the garage may change their mind or the valuation. If it's a private sale, they may simply walk away as the bike is no longer in the same condition.

Certainly if you have agreed a price, now its value is less than before as it's now damaged....
Some people simply don't like crash tested bike's.
