I have been noticing more and more of these while out and about. At a guess the idea of the forward facing camera is to stop people denying they was the driver at the time.

Surly this means bikers can't be caught for speeding through a Truvelo?

Does anyone else have Truvelo's in their areas and know anything more about them?

Havn't seen any around here, I'd probably slow down for them anyway.

We have them round here (Medway Towns). Although they are forward facing and they can't get my plate - I still always slow down for them. No point getting on film too many times otherwise more ammo for politicians against bikes.

Also, I definately saw a white flash when one went off infront of us before Confused They're not meant to but I know what I saw..

They are all over the place. And no you cant get caught, tho be mindful of reflections in tailing car windows etc! There is a camera quite near me on the opposite side of a straight road and they have a nice collection of me wizzing through it. Bad me, but it's just so damn satisfying. Twisted Evil

Do you think it would take a bikers picture when speeding past them too?

Could the white flash of been the reflection of the sun from the lense?

I for one like Truvelo's i hope they tear down all the gatso's and put them in.

I've got one of them camera's near me, PLEASE make sure there isn't a CCTV camera pointing at you, if that sees you in the area at the time the camera flashes ,the two added together would be enough to prosecute.

Needless to say I have been known to Middle Finger to them every now and then Twisted Evil

Some of the older Gatso camera's have been retro-fitted with the new type of equipment that makes then snap both ways Sad

Theres quite a few of them around Chesterfield.

However you wont get done as they cant identify you from the front Thumbs Up

I've been through most of the ones on the M1 side of Chesterfield and never been caught. Had the same one flash at me 6 times in 1 week and never got done Thumbs Up

I also managed to set off a rear facing camera while going towards it which was quite funny. I did also check it was me and ended up setting it off around 7 times overall in about a 4 days Very Happy Thumbs Up

There's a few around here, I always stick to the speed limit going through them though - they can identify the rider by distinguising marks on the bike / leathers / reflections / cctv.

If you do things like going through them with your finger up, that'll annoy them, they'll just camp out, catch you doing it in the act and do you for the most points/money possible.

Hi
This is to everyone. DONT ride fast through forward facing ghatos.

1. More ammo against bikes (like kris)
2. More rear facing ones to catch bikers
3.Introduction of front numberplates.

Hi

As I understand it, in the UK the Gatso brand of cameras are not authorised to take pictures of the fronts for evidence. Basically the lines on the road to show measurements for forward facing pictures are just there to terrorise road users.

All the best

You have to remember that the Police don't forget if the same bike is caught several times "wrong" way on... In the case of the Police force that I contracted at in the IT dept, they had all the bike photos on the wall, and if they could match kit to model of bike, and same helmet etc, they were sending tickets out for the non-number plate pics...

So be careful Mad

Like Luke mentioned all the government will do if bikers speed throigh them is introduce some sort of front number plate which will look gash. Also, I'm sure if you were"caught" several times you may find a plod sat in waiting at some point.
