God, I wish I could do that. There's one of those horrible bastard plastic strip things on the way into work that rips the fuck out of my collector if I go over it at more than about 4 mph. We've (the bikers at my workplace) been campaigning to get rid of the fucking thing for years, and they're still to-ing and fro-ing about it.

If I were you I'd just hope that one of the 1 foot sections (if it is the type I'm thinking of, as in the ones you get in ASDA car parks) didn't get hit repeatedly with a mallet until it came away Wink

They have those at uni, I just go down the 6 inch gap between the ramp and the kerb.

As grossly incapable as our security staff are, there's a couple of CCTV cameras trained on them. Allegedly it's so they can see who's at the card reader, but I reckon it's so they don't have the sections nicked from the speed bump.

It's not possible on these ones: the barrier's on an island in the middle of the road, and the bump pretty much touches it. If I go round the other side, I've got to do some kind of lengthy weirdshit crabwise shuffle to get over to the card reader.

To be honest, I'd find it more satisfying if the people involved in putting those things in were made to realise that they were wrong, in every way, about everything, ever.
Sorry - I don't like the head of security at work much. As much as your solution would sort the problem out quickly, I'd like to grind his face in the fact that he's WRONG. Evil or Very Mad

Yes I have but I decided a long time ago that I hate replacing headstock bearings. As such I try to keep both wheels on the road these days.

I did however hit a railway bridge on the A9 just before Thurso at about double the speed limit (it's a LONG straight bit of perfectly flat and level road with a humpback bridge in the middle, you simply don't see it until you're on it). I only just landed on the downslope, could have been nasty if I'd hit on the flat! Had to wind on the throttle in midair to keep the nose up and you could feel the whole bike going sideways in the crosswind.

I had been going faster (read flat-out) but I managed to scrub off a load of speed once I saw it, realised I was going to be taking off no matter what, then got back on the power so I didn't nose-plant off the top.

Yeah sounds like you got air, back home there is a very small hump back bridge that is great for doing that on, especially if you are overtaking someone. Always felt a bit dodgy landing again mind.

i am alwats getting air on my 1200 bandit due to having a stage 3 kit and k&n filters and a 14tooth front sprocket all i have to do is rool on the power . but there is one down fall i forget when ny girl friend is on the back sometimes untill i hear her scream .. lol

There is a great road near my house which is a less-steep version of The Corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

Plenty possible to get a nice amount of air on that one. Thumbs Up

I used to look for places to do this around banbury, just mount a low curb then when it goes high ride off it at speed. You could do it if you hit the curb near the round about as you leave the bike rank.

Speed bumps are also fun.

But the little bridges out in the country are the best for this.

Did have an awesome airborne incident here involving some raised train tracks here on the 1000. Cool

Unless you know the Trough road (a road that goes through the Bowland fells) you can quite easily get some serious air, I have a couple of times but it scares the shit out of me so I don't do it on purpose.

There are a couple of bridges around here that you can do it on easily too.

It is bad, especially when there's a solid 3 foot brick wall that look's like contact will be inevitable.

Problem I have on my 'secondary' commute route, is that there's a kinda mini dual carriageway which has like a crest swooping off to the left..... can catch you off guard and best avoided or taken very slow in the wet.

I passed a schoolbus on the right and got the bike under control long enough to gear down and pull off into an abandoned gravel driveway where I stopped and turned off the engine. My hands had seized up like claws and the rest of my body was numb. I felt nauseous and I cried for my mama, but nobody heard, then I went into a trance for 30 or 40 seconds until I was finally able to light a cigarette and calm down enough to ride home. I was too hysterical to shift gears, so I went the whole way in first at 40 miles an hour.

Whoops! What am I saying? Tall stories, ho, ho... We are motorcycle people; we walk tall and we laugh at whatever's funny. We shit on the chests of the Weird....
