When I clicked on this story, I was intruiged as to what the 'racist' joke he used was.

In the end I had to read the story through a couple of times to actually spot it.

It's a mildly amusing pun, nothing more. But once again the PC hysteria fires up. Fucking pathetic.

Seems to me that they are trying to outlaw the use of the word pakistani, now they've achieved it with the abbreviation. Wonder if 'person who may have roots in that country above India that begins with P' will still be acceptable?...

I really like David Jason, and just because of some spineless 'spokeswoman', he's been embarrassed and had to apologise where no apology was necessary.

What I'd like to see is someone tell a joke like this and refuse point blank to apologise.

I couldn't give a f*ck if it's racist ot not, it's only a joke. There's worse things in life than upsetting a few over sensitive knobs.

What's the f**kin difference between this joke and the one Delboy told? Nothing! Yet I don't hear everyone in Ireland complaining about how they're offended and their human rights have been breached. It's a joke ffs! It's utterly ridiculous, especially as there were no complaints. I'm sick of the whole stigma brought about by all this PC-ness, that's making folk afraid to even say the word Pakistani in any context whatsoever for fear of being arrested and locked up for life.

Actually - the irish joke is more offensive. That said, plenty of people complain about racism directed at the Irish, and plenty of people get into trouble for making jokes like the above. Your analogy doesn't ring true either, as it isn't people in Pakistan that are kicking up a fuss - it's people resident here, including the radio station themselves.

No, it's people like you who indulge in rampant hyperbole that are making folk afraid, not actual incidents like this one.

The media play their part too, in an effort to sensationalise the whole affair. On the day the story broke I read a quote from Absolute Radio saying that the joke was not at all racist, just a bit inappropriate - a very sensible way of looking at the situation. Strangely enough, that quote seems to have vanished, and noone seems to be running with it.
