The weather's looking proper shite for my commute from Sheffield back to Anglesey tonight and I just can't be arsed.

Any suggestions for immobilising a ZZr600 so the RAC man can't fix it and he gives me a lift home?

Removing the engine / setting fire to it / pissing in the tank type suggestions will probably be ignored Very Happy

It depends how much they can do at the roadside and how much you can be bothered to do now.

Could take a sparkplug or two out and close the gap up completely and then put back in, to be honest you could probably just unplug one of the low tension side cables to one coil and they wouldnt notice...

+1 I managed to lock the keys inside my car once and rather than break my window and give me extra expense the AA drove me all the way home to collect the spare and then took me back to my car - 70 mile round trip, bless 'em!

Let's hope the RAC don't do that to you, SlimRick!! Wink

Mechanical breakdown insurance.

Losing your keys isn't covered, get your wallet out.


Vandalism isn't either, you'll get a nice bill to pay or pass onto your insurance company.

I hope you haven't used all your callouts when you really need them.


It's a business, the recovery will have to be paid by someone at some point,it may be you in the long term or a few pence on everyone else's premium.

Better make sure you're displaying your tax disc!

A couple of weeks ago we rented a bunk house in north wales and on the way there one of the lasses developed a problem with her EFE..... she managed to limp there, but it was going nowhere after that. On Sunday morning when we were leaving she called the RAC. The bloke had a look at the bike and noticed there was no tax disc (it was taxed though), said policy prevented him from recovering her..... but she could pay for them to take her home at 3 hundred and something quid. If it wasn't for some very good friends who went home and came back with a bike trailer she would have been shafted.

Fuck the RAC. Thumbs Down

It's a legal thing. Recovery vehicles pay less road tax because they only carry vehicles that are taxed. If it isn't displaying a tax disc it can't be proven to be taxed.The vehicle is then classed as goods and the recovery company then need a goods vehicle operator license or can face a fine.

where abouts in North Wales? There's a few bike shops around here.
