Spring is here, the old mower is getting a bit boring and battered, so I decided to get a new one ... Argos are doing a deal where you get a Flymo mower and strimmer for £60!!

Seemed like a great deal, Flymo are a good make ....

However I was shocked to see how small the box was when I picked it up .... the mower is tiny ... and the strimmer is pathetic, they are like kiddy toys!!


So what mower have you got??

Anyone got a ride-on one?!?!!? ... that'd be a great way of making a tedious job more fun!!

Pah. Try cutting around a deep border rosebed with a rotary with no roller.

Rollers are heavy, but the stripes are worth the effort.

Anyone else care to debate Garden tools?

Personally, I prefer the half moon to a hoe for edging and funnily I would rather use a hoe than a claw even when the bulbs are coming through spring bedding.

Guys, if you want a perfect lawn, the old Suffolk Punches were awesome ... only retired mine about 3 years ago ... and it must have been 30yrs old when i got it!! ... the engine was fine, but the cutting drum was fecked from stones etc

I dont have a pic of my lawn mower. But its a george. Like a Henry hoover it as that name on it and its red and petrol . And its actually not mine its my dads and cost lots of mney apparently and I was near killed by my dad when I tipped it to unstick blades and the oil came out and it near went on fire

I have a 160cc 2 stroke Victa 'Sport' mower. It is sweet.

Bit of a hole in the exhaust so it is a little noisy (and down on power), but other than that it is the nuts.

If I had the time, and a lawn worthy of it, have a roller mower. There really is nothing better than a beautifully cropped and striped lawn.

We've got a Flymo Hovermower thingy. Out house has lots of steps into our front and rear garden so we can't have anything heavy. When I lived with my parents they had rotary petrol mowers with rollers and it looks so much better with stripes. I'd really like a petrol cylinder mower that'll do stripes, does anyone make any lightweight petrol mowers, or ones where you can semi-dismantle them so carting them around is easier? I also hate lugging electric cables around

Right boyz and girlz, guess what!! ... I have yet another a new mower!!


When I say new, I mean new to me!! ....

One of my neighbours was going to take it down the dump ... there was no way I could let that atrocity happen so I intervened and said I'd take it away!

Anyhoo, a bit of time, a few mower spares I had , a small amount of 'fashioning' and this is the result!!

And yes -yes, that is a blue_ design race tuned 'zosrt and air filter on there!!

Its got variable mow height adjuster ... its got a hand clutch to engage the roller ... everything!!

I am actually willing the grass on these days so I can get to use it!!

We've got a collection - our old Honda roller type, our newer Honda roller type, and our newest ride-on Honda V-Twin with a big old engine
