Honda CG125 Dilemma

Hi, this guy at collage wants to sell his honda CG125, he says it's got quite a few problems and is asking £200 for it. I was thinking of buying it and then breaking it and selling parts on ebay; does 200 smackers sound like a good deal and do you think I could get money back from the parts? Or maybe I would be better off trying to fix it up and selling it in working order?

What are your thoughts? Any experience in this kind of thing? And is it a good deal?

It depends on the year, the condition of it and the mileage.

I'd definitely be looking into how much bits like exhaust, engine, frame, forks and wheels could sell for.

Try find out whats up with it?

Might be an idea to fix it all up if you don't already have any experience with bikes... You will learn alot.

Its what i've done.

Parts are cheap as chips too on ebay

I think he said it was a 1998 reg, but by the sound of it it's not in great condition.

Yeh, I had a look on ebay and I added up things like fairings, electrics and that kinda stuff (I going to have a look at frames ect now) but that came to over 200 (a 2002 reg though), I'm just wondering if CG parts are well sort after.

But I bought mine with 6 months MOT and Tax and in okay working order for £250...

I just bought a not too bad 1994 CG for £350, when doing a bit of research on www.wemoto.co.uk I decided a CG is, without doubt, the cheapest bike to buy parts for that I have ever come across.

Seriously, I reckon you could rebuild an entire bike with new bearings, bars, switches and seals for just a few hundred smackers so I don't reckon second hand bits will be of much value. I would, however, rip his arm off at the socket for the bike (as long as it runs) and sort it out for not lots of money and then either enjoy the fruits of my labour (not excitment based, more smugness at cheapness) or sell for a profit.

Just my pennies worth...
