Saw the ad Thursday night. Emailed the guy Friday morning. Picked it up Saturday afternoon.

Soon as I saw the ad, somehow, I just knew it would be mine (anyone else ever have that..?). He was asking £1250 for it, told him it was just slightly out of my budget (which was actually supposed to be £800!) and he offered to come down £100.

So, I now have a 1997 Bandit, in great condition, and it was only about a few hours ago I finally managed to stop constantly grinning from ear to ear Very Happy

The only things that need looking at, as far as I can tell so far, as since I've had it I've been busy with other less interesting, non-biking things....are;

Speedo has a scrape on the chrome.
Right front indicator stem needs replacing or fixing.
Ummm....oh yes, right hand mirror slightly bent where it bolts in.

That's about it. Otherwise, she rides reet lovely, sounds gorgeous, and looks fantastic!

It's done 15K miles, Goodridge hoses all round, brand new Battlax front and back, and the paintwork is black, but with those little blue flecky bits in. Really nice.

The ride back was interesting, weatherwise. Bright sunshine, then rain, then sunshine, then hail, then drizzle, then sunshine. But in the 60 odd miles I've ridden it, I've noticed two things.

One is that I've obviously been spoilt with the fairing on the NSR. Forgotten just how much work naked bikes are in the wind! Especially at a 100+! (ahem...so I've err been told... Whistle )

The other is that it feels like it's keen to turn. When turning at mid range speeds, it doesn't exactly 'fall' into the corners, it's much more controlled than that. I don't know how to describe it really, except that it seems like it wants to turn. Is that normal for a Bandit?

Anyway, I am as chuffed about it as much as Mrs Hammers is unchuffed about it Dance! <-- me Rolling Eyes <-- her

Right, thought I'd let you know, now I'm going to go back into the garage and have another look at her. Just to make sure she's still there, and happy in her new home. Very Happy

Pics here!

Congrats on getting the bike. Thumbs Up

But why when anyone talks about Bandits I always think Arse first?

And Brokeback Mountain was on tv tonight. Laughing

Not really normal. My 1200 did it on the OE tyres fairly rapidly, but not on other tyres. However it could just be your perception due to the extra weight you are not used to, but it would be worth checking the tyre pressures.

All the best

I thought so too after thinking about it. Still have the muscle memory of the NSR, so it's going to feel a bit weird for a while.

Pressures. Check! Very Happy

Because while Bum maybe less crude, it isn't as funny as Arse is. Thumbs Up

Mrs H made me go and see that at the pik-chures when it first came out (no pun intended, but feel free to feel punned). I say made, more like tricked. No real problems with all the gay business, I just thought it was a terribly boring film. And no-one, not none person, gets shot to death anywhere. And no bikes, just horses. Shocked

Er, actually, that's the opposite of what would cheer her up. She had a beloved pink moped years ago, but was hit by car while stationary, quite seriously. Apart from me, she hasn't wanted to ride anything since. I'm not sure she'll even want to go on the back of the Bandit tbh, but we'll see. She still doesn't see it is a fine example of a motorcyle, but more as a great big wad of cash. So you see, salty, the sooner I sell it, the happier she'll be. Very Happy
