im getting bored whilst waiting for mito 350 parts to arrive, and while i search around for parts on the cheap.

ever since getting on a bike for the first time (which was a CR250 at about 14) ive thought ''that was fucking awesome, i want a crosser'', the thing stopping me was the price. because they cost lots.

so my college buddy said he'd sell me his DT125 for £100... so i said yes. and now i have it. the thing is, its completely offroad, no frame numbers or anything. so if you know stuff about DTs, im all ears (im looking in your direction element)

so heres pics. bit of a state, but looks like its mostly dirt. everythings intact.

theres a washing up glove over the inlet manifold because the carbs are off, and other than that and a bent exhaust, it seems a goodun.

I have a carb here for it that you can have (you pay postage/packaging) and i also have a good swingarm aswell (although that could be expensive to post?).

You can have them if your planning on keeping the bike, but if your just going to sell it on i'll keep them for spares as i still have the complete bike in bit's.

thats an early DT judging on the fact it has no YPVS servo prob an early 90's unless its a different engine..

Ive NEVER seen a rotted swinger like that before either.. I thought you was just exaggerating a little when you pm'd me.. I was thinking mild rotting.. bit of welding no problem sorta thing but fcuk me thats seriously dead...

sure theres no frame numbers?.. if they had been ground off you would be able to see it blatantly.. has it been resprayed?? they arnt very deep and a few layers of paint and prob powdercoating could fill in the numbers and make it look like they aint there...

Also that back end looks bent bigtime.. prob bent swinger or worst case a twisted frame (cat b writeoff hence grinded numbers?.. just thinking out loud).. Also you got a lovely ding in the back wheel Wink.. oh and the bent zaust... had a nasty smack by the looks of it.. Can you get any history on it? (always helps).. I found out a little while back that my brothers mate owned my bike before he sold it to the guy I bought it off (who sold it with 30k missing off the clocks) and he was saying he planted it into a tree before he sold it.. bend the forks into the engine Shocked

apparantly it DID have a servo at some point, but they just jammed the valve open? not sure, and yet to investigate.

as for the frame numbers, took the seat and tank off, had a good look around the headstock area, and under the numberboard. no evidence of a spiderframe/headlight mount ever being present. or any sign of any numbers for that matter.

as for the frame, its just the plastic thats a bit pissed at the back because its held on by 1 bolt.

i know this is probably going to cost a lot in the long run, but im shit at saving, so buying it peice by peice is probably a better idea.

PMs have been sent accordingly. cheers x

Worth keeping an eye on eBay for a new frame and swinger IMO!

Then strip it all down, rebuild it back up. Then it's road legal and you can clean/poke everything as you do it.

sure, a PM of that would be ideal. cheers x

oh yeah, i also had it running very briefly today...
i slapped on an RD350 carb in a very bodged up way and it ran for a good 5 minutes... started 2nd kick, smoked like fuck and smelled awesome.

just need a real carb and im good to go. the RD350 one was majorly overfuelling it though, and fouled the plug up pretty bad.

right, well the carb arrived courtesy of justmetoo125 who i owe a sucking.
the carb seems to be overflowing a bit, so im going to give it a clean, then try again.

i did hit a bit of a problem though that i didnt quite bank on...

fuel tank leaking. some shoddy stuff that looks like clay has been patched onto it. same repair thats on the 2t tank. so new ones of them are needed.

on a lighter note...
https://img5.imageshack.us/img5/3594/92ba1.jpg

this arrived on friday, so im going to transplant the lot in.

so did my renthals like the pic but in gold
https://www.haibikeshop.com/images/renthalstreetfighterbars.jpg

did have a few running problems today, possibly caused by the carb, but im not entirely sure... hence the asking.

riding along, seems ok, revs nicely, lots of power available, then suddenly it'll just die completely and not start again.

any ideas why?

my thoughts are either massive overfuelling, or a shit sparkplug.

started the stripdown anyway...

stay tuned sports fans[/img]

Running rich causing the plug to foul is my guess, unless youve checked the plug and it's not?

If it's not it could well be shitplugs, cap, lead, coil.

Or it could be the carb float getting stuck closed. Along with a number of other things tbh!

I stripped the carb down before i sent you it.(blew all the jets out with the airline, float bowls moving freely e.t.c.)

I forgot to adjust the air screw.Standard setting is 1 and half turns out.

The needle should be on the 4th clip from top.

Thumbs Up

EDIT:
I have the coil for it aswell if you need it? i actually know exactly where it is Laughing

Manual here incase you need it

now you mention it, i took the bowl off and it looked pretty immaculate inside.
i suppose if the fuel was leaking from the tank, it could run down the side of the carb and appear to be dripping from the overflow.

ive ordered a new sparkplug from wemoto, and if the coil is up for grabs that would be awesome, cheers Very Happy

let me know how much you want for it.

awesome. cheers for that, hopefully it'll sort it out.

went about attempting to take out the engine today, all was going smoothly until...

i went and broke my 3/8 ratchet and my 5/8 to 3/8 reducer on one fucking 12mm bolt just below the swingarm. its one seized fucker.
also, cant get the swingarm spindle out... unless theres more to it than just tapping it through?

ah well. ill have a skim through the manual justmetoo125 linked, and see what i can do.

until then, im considering hacksaws and frame combos, and borrowing an impact wrench from work or something.

they werent shit tools either.

thats the one.
by the looks of it, never had an engine in it.
props to the guy, it arrived the day after the auction.

managed a little progress with the bastard bolt...
managed to find the rest of my socket set, and got a 12mm 3/4 socket on it. it got turning... and turning... and turning.
had a look at the threaded end, and its all bent up. so ive obviously sheared it off or something, and its turning in the bushes, so i got pissed off and left it.
the swingarm spindle is being a bastard too.

plan of action for tomorrow:

borrow an angle grinder and just destroy the fuck out of the frame.
