I was wondering, how often do you check 33bhp bikes, or hear of them being checked up?

Thanks

the best thing to ask is how often do people get pulled over? the only reason they'll ever check your restriction is if they have another reason to pull you over.

ride safely and dont do anything stupid and there shouldnt be a problem.

I would be surprised if you got any answer other than "All the time".

It does happen, obviously if you are pulled over for 110mph+ then it's clear that it's over, if not then you might be lucky. Traffic and bike cops seem to know more than bog standard police, but then again the only time's I've ever been pulled over have been in townish areas, not dual carriageways or fast roads.

Not sure about the 33bhp restriction, however, recently the plod squad have been pulling over 'L' Platers near me and sticking their bike on a rolling road, if it goes over 28mph for a 16 year old or 11kW or w/e it is for a 17 year old, bye bye licence.

Luckily for me, to any police officer besides the motorcycle ones, mine looks like a 125 so less likely to be pulled.

As for 33bhp, I assume like Pyro said, if you aren't out there doing 110mph or so, you're not likely to get pulled. Thumbs Up

Me neither, apart from when I was riding in France.

As for the OP my 2 year restriction period ran out on Friday and I didn't ride a day with restrictors in. However, that was my choice, you have to make the decision whether if it's worth the risk or not...

To be utterly honest, having been riding for 30 years Confused , nowadays I see less coppers out on the roads than I ever remember. I really believe that you are dead unlucky (or doing something seriously stupid) to get pulled by a cop car nowadays.

Cameras though, another story Crying or Very sad

I keep seeing that on his posts, assumed it was a joke Smile

Is it not? do we have to go through the whole speedo versus real life thing again? Doh!

Me and joeb64 i think his name is on here, both on restricted bikes, (Sv650s and a Drz400) were stopped twice in one day for routine checks, not once asked about the restriction but if i was to ever destrict it, it would be my luck to get caught, then again lastnight stopped for parking in a industrial estate checked details but nothing about the restriction law. Lots of police in Yorkshire Sad

Cheers Kris.

Have a newish well maintained naked bike.

Wear proper kit, from head to toe. (No lidl specials).

Wear a hi-vis at all times.

Keep good lane discipline.

Don't speed.

Follow the highway code to the letter.

Don't hang around with your 16 your old mates/brothers on street corners.

And you should be okay for your 2 year restriction period of not getting pulled.

True, but that would somewhat take the fun out of being unrestricted.

4 times, mentioned once, blatently knew I was telling fibs, sent me on my way with 'it's cold out tonight don't speed'

Not really mentioned, it seems to be if you do get pulled your unlikely to get found out, but if they are aware of the law, you will get completeley raped Thumbs Up

Do what you want tbh, 33bhp isn't that bad (I had it for a week) if you value your future hassle more than 2 years of going 20mph more and getting there quicker. My time is nearly up and I've been fine, however you might not be lucky.

your no more likely to be pulled on a 33bhp license than any other, im sure there are ppl here who have never been pulled after 20 years of riding driving, i havent been pulled over in nearly 4 years of driving a car, wanna know why?, dont act like an idiot. its fairly simple, dont give them a reason to pull you over, have your bike taxed, mot'd, registered to you etc and ride sensibly and you will be fine. doing a 40 in a 30 will pretty much go unoticed if your being sensible, act like an idiot and youre likely to get pulled over.

Ive been pulled twice offically for going over 110mph (couple other times when they only heard me coming Laughing )

First time it was an average over a mile of 110mph and no mention of restrictions was ever brought up (and this included court).

Second time i was caught doing 160odd mph but the police bike could only do 122mph so couldnt prosecute me for more Laughing Asked about restrictions, called back up to "take a look" at my bike. Ended up they were going to take it there and then from the road side and strip it so i confessed (sort of) Laughing and got the bike back the next day and road it away from where it was held Laughing Bloody expensive overnight bike park that was!
