Amsterdam is one of those places whose reputation as a "city of vice" has meant that most ppl are too wasted to appreciate it's history and culture.

It's sad really.

Those who plan for debauchery usually make for the most tedius holidays. I'm all for enjoying life, but if you set out to hook up with whores, get smacked up etc, it's usually deeply disapointing and you leave on the plane thinking, "was that it?". Being sober , meeting with the local chicks, appreciating cultural differences, etc, is much more rewarding fella
