https://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/mar/30/cctv-london-government-transport-g20

Is it me being paranoid or is it being switched off so that no video evidence can be filmed of "bad" things happening at the G20 protests?.

Since its illegal to film cops since Feb 16th and there is no CCTV...

Sort of like how the execution of Jean Charles conveniently went missing isn't it?.

At the end of the day if anything like the police brutality of May 1968 in France occurs, we will know about it, CCTV, or no CCTV.

Dubious as fuck. It screams false flag alert, because there'll be no video evidence. I bet the coppers will confiscate cameras of any legitimate protestors too. When those in the shadow state plan a coup control of information is vital. Some smelly crusties smashing up a McDonalds is the least of your worries...

It"s nice to see the government adhering to there own legislation, in fact it makes a change! 7 Million pound invested in security operation-World Leaders in attendance-1000"s upon 1000"s of people taking to the streets in times of uncertainly which could easily turn into huge civil unrest...yet a main security asset is 16 pixels to small it has to go.....

If you want to discredit a political movement, you can just label them as mad or bad.

In the 60's 70's and 80's a secret organisation perpetrated violent acts in Germany and Italy to discredit communists and the left. False flag, is when an attack is made in the name of one group but is actually perpetrated by another.

However this isn't an unprovable conspiracy theory, it's well documented and admitted to by an Italian prime minister.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Gladio

So protesters can be easily discredited by labelling them all as work-shy violent nutters, particularly if someone makes sure violence is done in their name.

I agree that the cctv cameras have been turned off so that police can use whatever force they want with no record that could be used against them in court.

Being tazered is very unpleasant, but doesn't leave much visible damage, so not much evidence of injuries or suffering if there are no cctv cameras.

I'm not quite sure how the lack of a small percentage of the CCTV cameras in on one borough is going to allow the police to get away with mass brutality and the ever-alluded-to-but-never-seeming-to-happen false-flag black-ops.

Even the original article points out that there are another 160 permanent cameras with better resolution that remain unaffected - and that's just the ones controlled by Westminster council.

I never thought I'd see the day when BCF bemoaned the possible loss of parking-enforcement cameras.

Whilst it does smack as a little suspicious to me, if you actually read through the article it paints a different picture to the one our tinfoil-hatted brethren suggest.
I read that 60 (or 100 according to theregister.co.uk) wireless traffic management cameras are being switched off due to not meeting the standard demanded by the Traffic Management Act and therefore not providing a 'fair and transparent' method of detecting traffic offences.
The fact that the 60/100 cameras may also be used to detect unlawful behaviour is a supplementary 'benefit' of them.
The remaining 160 'wired' cameras in the borough of Westminster will remain in operation.
Again, according to the article, 'security officials' are lambasting the council for wanting to deactivate them.

All that aside, what really fecks me off is the waste of taxpayers money the whole system is - surely they must have been aware of the impending legislation when they installed the cameras last year? £15M of MY money up the spout, money which could have been better spent elsewhere.

Scum. Subhuman scum.

EDIT: arse, beaten to it by the James. Damn my slow typing skills.

Mister James, like you, I am forever sceptical over these claims of state wrong-doing, but it is largely co-incidental isn't it?

Confused must have missed that memo, where's the source?

Thanks Thumbs Up

<edit>
Found it - some new Anti-Terrorism legislation - described in this Telegraph article.

However, the Home Office site doesn't make any reference to this restriction...
Home Office wrote:

Prevention of terrorism and national security

Although this situation is less likely, it is useful to know that there are also restrictions on taking photographs around some sensitive public buildings such as government buildings and those involved in national defence. Some land, such as railways, aerodromes, military bases etc. cannot be entered without permission.

The Prevention of Terrorism Act 2000 gives police wide powers of stop and search in these areas designated a likely target for a terrorist attach. A police officer may confiscate equipment or film or delete images if they have a warrant or court order.

Its sec76 of the counter terrorism bill that makes photography or filiming of police or indentification of that would be of use to a terrorist or terrorist related activity illegal , which covers everything pretty much.

Ie an A to Z in a dispatch rider's top box is useful to a terrorist so they got you there, an open Wifi spot is useful for a terrorist.

A glass of water is useful for a terrorist since they might be thirsty.

You're right - it IS largely coincidental, and not a conspiracy. As I pointed out, it's a tiny fraction of the cameras in London that are affected - hardly a media blackout, especially as half the journalists in the world were on the streets filming the protests and the police response.

This is yet more rabid fear-mongering with no basis in fact. Once again, I'm struck by the inherent irony of the tin-foil hat brigade being guilty of the crimes they decry in others!

*yawn*

An A-Z, a wifi spot and a glass of water would all be counted as reasonable - which is a statutory defence under the act.

Correct - at least, in the way you describe. Except you don't actually describe it, you just make vague allusions and change the subject when challenged on specifics.

Lets stick to the cameras shall we, and the fact that once again your scare-tactic stories have been examined and found wanting?

So we're agreed that there was never any dark conspiracy switching off all of London's CCTV so that the Piggies could beat the Hippies to a poorly-washed and slightly-confused pulp?

Excellent, we're making progress gentlemen!
