I have that, and It's terribly slow for me... I do 20 up small slopes in 40mph zones... I just want to know, if there's an easy way to either do it myself, or get it done for me.

I live in the West Midlands, in Coseley, so any where pretty close to me would be great.

Also, do I need to tell my insurance company/dvla/anyone about destricting it...?

It's a 4 stroke and probably can't be de-restricted as it isn't restricted in the first place.

If you check the FAQ on that site it says

"50cc scooters are restricted to 30mph"

and in the spec it says the top speed is "30mph+" so I know for certain it's restricted.

It's not restricted.

To do 30mph+ you need a big hill. Razz

It will have a gearing restrictor and a CDI restrictor, take a look on this site, find the engine yours has and read the "how too's"

I am 17 Smile That's my entire reason for derestricting it, I bought a 50cc before I knew I was allowed to ride 125s at 17... I just want to squeeze as much speed/power out of it as possible, I'll check the websites and such.

ALL 50cc scooters are restricted to 30 mph so they are legal. The 2 stroke versions can be de-restricted...the 4 stroke versions can't. Bit like the RS125 and YZF125. Both are restricted to 15bhp to make them legal...but the RS can be de-restricted to nearer 30bhp for full licence holders whereas the YZF makes 15bhp and that's it.

But, as you obviously know way more at 17 than any of us older folks here do about bikes, which is why you bough a Chinese bike, you go ahead and de-restrict your 4 stroke ped.

When it goes bang though...because being such a tiny engine it probably will...expect much derision, scorn and general piss taking.

Well it must be true then, if the del boy warehouse company say so on their t'internets... Rolling Eyes

If the top speed was 31mph, or 32mph, don't you think they would put 'top speed is 32mph'? Not '30mph+'.

Nope, some are built to do 30mph and need tuning to go above, there is no restriction. Not just moped scooters either some geared mopeds are the same.

I bet there workshop section is bloody busy Smile

I had a 2 stroke Chinese scooter and although it did over 30mph, if I actually did that, it'd just bog down and go about 10mph.

It was good for commuting at 30mph but these were the parts I had replaced:

3x Fuel Filter
1x Fuel Hoses
1x Engine Mount
4x Spark Plugs
1x Back Tyre
1x Carburetor
1x Exhaust

Thank god it was on warranty or I would of spent more on labour than the bike is worth. I wouldn't go Chinese again. I've got an Italian bike at the moment and it isn't much better. Japanese seems the way forward.

A 50cc 4 stroke will be reliable in comparison to a 50cc 2 stroke. Also that is one cheap scooter... I'd be very wary. Wink

Take the transmission casing off, take the variator (pulley on the left) nut off with either an impact wrench or with a ratchet and something holding the variator.
Remove the whole of the pulley and on the second half there will be 3 bolts on the back which hold the restrictor plate on, remove the 3 bolts and the plate from the back of the variator. It should have a number on it, something like 6.2.
Put it all back together with a little bit of blue loctite (it has to be blue, DO NOT USE RED!) on the variator nut and torque it up to 40Nm.

It should hit 40mph now.

For more speed, you could de-restrict the exhaust or buy a performance exhaust but that's for another thread.

Sorry but that's a load of rubbish. I'd do some reading-up on tuning four strokes if I were you.

Four strokes are not restricted at all but they can be tuned but it's not a cheap and easy option. Wink

Some of them are. An example of a couple of restricted 4 stroke 50cc scooters are the Yamaha Giggle and also the Honda Zoomer.

You will now love me.
Okay my first bike was one of these shitty chinky craper piles of awfulnees on a massive scale ( not dissing you bike Thumbs Up )
Same engine thats in yours baccically and all the boation scoots and stuff.
I found ( well allymoss found , allso a user ) under my seat a little cover you could take out to gain view of the carb. We took it of as i was going to give it a clean and allymoss found what was bacically a small screw stopping my throttle twisting to its full amount.
From 30mph just !!! to 40 - 45. I got 40 with both us on when his moped broke on a ride. Much more power.

But be warned, that bike is now broken. Thumbs Up Aslo a word of advise with chinky bikes dont just have a random play with it like you can good bikes, they fall to pieces.

Anyway . . . So yeah, try that, see if you have one. Obv's if you dont have a cover under your seat find the carb still and have a look.

Good look Thumbs Up

You can do much with these scoots mate , There are no tuning parts avaliable for them.

Stick to well known names like suzuki ,yamaha or aprilia

Nice to see the noobs paying attention to thread dates, especially threads about mopeds, where the OP has long since gotten rid of it.
