Hey guys. Im looking for a new chain for my bike because i had an MOT yesterday and the mechanic advised me to get just a chain. I have been quoted £100 before fitting.

Is this to expensive or does it look about right? Bearing in mind i have only got an L reg RF so it aint like i want the best chain on there.

Cheers

If its a good quality chain AND sprockets, its about right. Maybe a little much.

Depends on the bike actually, <£30 is an OK chain , only OK , < £50 is better £60-£80ish is a good chain £80+ for the X DID gold type chains are the best stuff. Charlie's dad's gold chain is alledged to be 40,000 miles old and wears out the sprockets.

Fitting should be no more than £25 though, you can minimise this by fitting it yourself sticking the split/soft link in riding carefully and slowly to the shop you bought it from to rivet it shut.

How old is your sprocket? General advice I used to get was that you replace the chain, it is normal to replace the sprocket as well.
