 |
|
As some of you know we run a few events over at 200mph.net for landspeed racing every year. We have added some classes of bike for 600 and 750cc bikes for our landspeed racing this year. The reason is that we want to try to add them to the National Records alongside our other classes and the existing ones.
These are the classes we are running:
Class 1 Pure Stock
Class 2 Modiffied Stock
Class 3 Super Stock
Class 4 Nitrous
Class 5 Turbo
Class 6 Up to 750cc Pure Stock
Class 7 Up to 750cc Modified Stock
Class 8 Up to 750cc Super Stock
Class 9 Up to 750cc Nitrous
Class 10 Up tp 750cc Turbo
Class 11 Up to 600cc Pure Stock
Class 12 Up tp 600cc Modified Stock
Classes 1-5 have no CC limit.
Classes 6,7 and 8 are 600-750cc
Classes 9 and 10 are 'up to 750cc'
Classes 11 and 12 are 'up to 600cc'
What the class rules are:
Class 1, 6, 11 - Pure Stock
Stock means stock! Bikes in this class are to all intents and purposes how they left the showroom. That means ride height, wheelbase, gearing, exhaust, airbox/filters... all stock. No aerodynamic changes, mirrors have to be on etc. Alternative (road) tyres are permitted but no slick or hand-cut tyres are allowed. No shifters, straps or lowering links, no ignition advancers or secret tweaks - you get the spirit of the class by now surely - It’s showroom stock! Top speed de-restrictors are permitted.
Class 2, 7, 12 Modified Stock
Class rules - Stock Wheelbase, no nitrous, no turbos or superchargers. Exhausts systems can be changed, pipes and cans, straps and lowering links are allowed as are ignition advancers and performance air filters. In fact the airbox can be modified or removed. Like class one, slick and hand-cut tyres are not allowed. Aerodynamic modifications are allowed but the engine must be untouched - stock pistons, valves, cams and crank to be retained. No headwork is permitted. The spirit of this class is ‘unopened motor’.
Class 3, 8 Super Stock
Class rules - All about the engine still not turbo, nitrous or superchargers, but engine-wise anything goes. Rules are as per Class 2, except engine bore and stroke increases, headwork, cams and valves are all permitted as is a longer wheelbase. Still no slick or hand-cut tyres though. The spirit of this class is ‘All motor’
Class 4, 9 Nitrous Class
Class rules - the rules are simple, as per Class 3, but nitrous is allowed.
Class 5, 10 Turbo/Supercharger - Unlimited!
Anything goes in this class - Engine mods, chassis mods, aerodynamic mods, power-adders they are all allowed. This class is the domain of the awesome turbo and supercharged bikes. The only rule is that bikes must start under their own power.
This event is at Woodbridge on 12/13th of May. For more details visit www.200mph.net
We will also be running nostalgia clases later in the year.

We've been running class 1-5 for years, but we want to get more interest in the sprtsbike classes. We (Straightliners racing) also run a drag-racing championship that has classes for every type of bike you can imagine - even scooters. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Probably says on the site, but... do you get 1/4 mile timing sheets too?
Be nice if I could run a 675 triple in a 600cla.... and, never mind it's actually on 9th/10th of May, when I'm still on holiday . |

No quarters this year - this is a top-speed-only event. There will be quarters at the records meet though. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Hmm, only 90 odd miles from me. I may have to see if I can get some time off work.
Although I suspect I'll get batter on the 636 as it won't be able to go against the "true" 600's.
Do you need an ACU license, and what's the entry fee usually? ____________________ My Flickr |

For a day''s racing - as many runs as you like - £95 all-in. That includes club membership (and a tee-shirt), ACU day-license and entry-fee.
For the weekend it's £135. This is less than most track days.
Spectators pay a one-off fee of £10 for the year but they must pay in advance to get a pass (MOD rules). ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

It used to be much cheaper but the MOD kindly quadrupled the rent on the course last year ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

There's no rules on lockwiring etc. The bike must be sound, not leaking fluids (esp fork oil), and the brakes, tyres and chain must be in good condition. That's about it. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Ah poop. This is the second year in a row that this has fallen on a weekend that I'm busy.
Especially frustrating as it's right on my doorstep |
