AN HONEST student who handed in a mobile phone he found was stunned when police arrested him for theft.

Paul Leicester, 18, played the Good Samaritan when he discovered the handset lying in the street.

He rang the last number dialled and told a friend of the owner he would leave the phone at a nearby police station. But officers arrested him for “theft by finding”, held him for four hours and took a DNA sample.

I want to comment on this but fear being harangued for jumping to conclusions and siding with the individual when police might not have behaved in a totally arse for elbow, idiotic, inexplicable way and the poor chap who was merely trying to do the right thing got pounced on by hyper active jobsworths desperately trying to follow dictats set by people up the ladder who have no clue and little in the way of real-world common sense...

but I won't.

I notice that was reported in the Express... Nothing about diana then...

Shocked Damn, I guess I can expect my door to be hammered down in the early hours soon then.

Yesterday as I walked p to the cashline at Tesco it was bleeping away, the woman who had just left "forgot" to take her £40 with her. Rolling Eyes Que me running around Tesco looking for a stripped jumper to give it back Laughing

The amount of time he was held seems to very from report to report, from 15 mins to 4 hours. Id be more likely to believe he was questioned for 15 mins as to where it was found than banged up in a cell for 4 hours.

Why he was arrested and his DNA taken is a mystery though although the police have said they have begun to remove it from their database.

Well it is an extremely biased paper with some very provocative views and if im correct they even were supporters of the nazi party up until 1939.

I do however seem to recall that many of this great country's leaders spent quite a lot of time brown nosing with the German chancellor prior to the invasion of Poland. Laughing
