I wear glasses (really can't stand wearing contacts so this is not an option!) when I'm on the bike and usually either have an open face helmet or one of those Caberg Justissimo flip front jobbies (bought for my lessons and test when I did it so I didn't need to keep taking my glasses on and off every time I took the helmet off to chat with the instructor). It's never really given me any bother before, but I just spent close to 5hrs on the bike with only a couple of 10min stops to let the bike cool down a bit and my ears were properly stinging by the end of it - to the extent that I wanted to ride the last 30mins with no helmet just to stop the pain! Given that I was planning to do a round trip of Scotland later this summer I would ideally like to have a helmet which doesn't do this to me!

I know Arai helmets have a sort of cut out bit in the padding which presumably offers some relief, but any spec wearers out there have any recommendations? I've tried on a few helmets (Arai Viper and some other ones I cant remember) in shops, but the problem is that they all feel fine for the most part - my Caberg is fine too up to a point, which I found today - but I can't imagine what they feel like after being on for 5hrs straight!

Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers, Stu

Why don't you just by a really cheap second pair with a thin wire frame ?

If you know your prescription order them online.

If that's not an option HJC have a nice wide front and have never given me problems even with my thick framed glasses.

Suppose I could do that, but I usually carry a pair of glasses and prescription sunglasses with me, so that would be adding to the bulk! Besides, I fancy getting myself a new helmet anyway - had both of them for about 3years now, so could do with a change!

And like I said, my current lid doesn't restrict view or anything like that and is comfortable enough for up to 3-4hrs, it's just after that things start to get a bit sore.

Will see if I can try on a few Shoeis flip, as I said though it's pretty tough trying to imagine what wearing something for a good few hours is going to feel like!

Arai have a channel where your glasses slide in.
I had many people come to me with very thin frames who wanted a budget helmet - but nothing would let them wear glasses comfortable.
Untill I got them to try on the Arai's and near on every person brought one Thumbs Up

My old Caberg V2 was fine. My new Shoei Xr1000 is even better.

Aren't you being a bit precious about it?

I wear glasses. Never had such a hissy fit about it.

Get yourself over to glasses direct. co . uk. Glasses with lenses from £28 delivered. Buy a pair for the bike, and then in a years time when they're bent and busted, buy another pair Thumbs Up

I wear Regan glasses with my helmet.
£24.

Keep a second pair in my bag. .

i usually wear contacts but find the air flow in the helmet usually drys my contacts up to the point im blind, so i wear my glasses when im on the bike

I have a arai chaser helmet and was out on the bike for over 4hours saturday and never even noticed any discomfort at all, like you mentioned there is padding removed for the glasses to go through. I do have thin armed glasses so that probably helps

Airoh Mathisse, don't even need to take your glasses off when you put the helmet on/off.

AGV S4 is just fine although I have a pair of glasses that have no bend in the legs to make it easier.

My shoei multitec has nice grooves down the side so my glasses are comfy plus the flip front.

I deliberately bought Oakley frames for my glasses, which while they are more expensive, don't go down behind your ears.

That way I can just slide them between the lining of my lid and my head.

I know some of the other brands have got arms the same, but you would have to have a look around.

I'm exactly the same - thick sided glasses and my HJC lid doesn't give me any problems
