I generally always nod at passing bikers, but with the biking season starting again, I seem to be passing a lot of groups on rideouts. Most of them wave/nod as I pass, but I think it gets a bit ridiculous nodding back about 15 times or more - I start feeling like one of those bloody Churchill dogs.

I just wanted to get some folks opinions on the matter. Do you nod at all in the group, just the first couple, etc??

Just nod at the first and last unless it's a huge group and I'll nod in the middle as well. Laughing

Rock a little salute like Ocelot from Metal gear solid 3.

Or just whack a thumbs up as you roll by.

Tis what I do.

If its Harley riders just stand up on the pegs and flip them off with both hands Mr. Green Wink

I tend to nod at the first and then again halfway down the group. It all depends on the kind of nod aswell i have got the slow head tilt down pretty well and it just wouldnt look right speeded up Smile

On a ride today I passed a police car with 20 ish bikes creeping along behind it (was such a funny sight, poor buggers though, it was such a nice bit of road as well!) and started nodding to all but then felt like a knob with my head going up and down so fast so stopped Smile

yes! a nodding thread Laughing

i see nodding as something that is down to the individual, if there is a big group of bikes i will sometimes do a long drawn out egsadurated nod for all to see then other times i just wont bother, especially dont bother if there a are corners about as im usually concentrating on staying on.

p.s how the hell do you spell egsadurated? spell checker wont recognise it lol. i must be way off Laughing

Laughing That is how you spell it though. Write it a few times and it will probably look more 'right'.

Fair enough - although please be advised of the following:

Arrow When I come to power, having your spelling corrected by a resident of the US of A will be a whipping offence.

Arrow When I come to power, spelling exaggerated 'egsadurated' will be a capital offence.

You have been warned.

All we need is a "fecking fair weather bikers, where did they all come from and where were they all winter" thread and we are away.

I nod at every single one as for all the threads that appear on the subject. I live in fear that I shall be hung and stoned should I miss a single fellow motorbicyclist.

My head was cut off in an accident at work and is now attached by a "slinky", so generally find if I nod at one biker I'm nodding for the next 3 miles! (except youths on gear-less motorcycles, just not right)

That reminds me, I found myself picking my way through a load of mopeds today, most of them riding very close together and a lot of them side by side, making it quite difficult to get through. Got to the front of the queue and pulled in behind a car to wait for another gap and the 2 front 'peds decided to sit just inches away from me. Think they were trying to get a good view of my ass before I sped off again Evil or Very Mad

I always feel a little... uncomfortable nodding at the fair weather mid life crisis -ers.

It's kinda like, "why the heck are we pretending we have anything in common?"

I think from this point on I'm going to refuse to nod to anyone except learners on 125's.

And only if the weather is MISERABLE.

I will not for anything less than 3mm of rain.

That way there can be no confusion.

I'm mostly ignored riding my 125 these days, so I ignore other bikers too.

Same as me mate.

I'm not bitter or anything. I'm just not going to waste my time pretending there's a biker fraternity, when I see little of it on my 125. My nods were hardly ever returned.

I see other riders nod at each other and ignore me.

I just think it's sad, really, given that I probably spend more time on the bike in a week than some of these guys do in a year. I can't be bothered trying to be friemdly anymore.

I used to strike up chitchat at the lights. Fuck that. Only if the rider's female from now on.

I just wave at them all with my clutch hand.

It's fair easier than nodding at them all.

This year, I'm only going to nod at red bikes. Last year it was blue.

So if you haven't got a red bike, start crying now.
