Hi guys, need some help!

I want to sell my bike as I sort of need the money at the moment, but theres only one problem - its abit not working!

There aren't many things wrong with it, head gasket may be gone, needs new battery, rear brake reservoir, front sprocket, coolant change and front tyre (Soon, not now).

How much would it cost to get said items fixed on a Triumph Speed Triple T509? I have been offered £1000 for it as is but I think if I fix it up I could get at least £1500 - £1600, so is it worth fixing?

Cheers guys!

The only thing that will cost you a bit is the head gasket if you get it done by a garage. The tyre you may be able to get away with leaving or buy a cheap second hand one and fit it.

If you're a do it yourself guy, do the work and get your £1500-1600.

I am usually a DIY guy, but Triumphs are wrapped tighter than Catholic girls and I wouldn't know what to look for.

How much will a garage charge for parts and labour on such a task, does anyone know?

Well if you cant do the job yourself go to a garage, get an estimate of what you want done, If its over say £400 (which i cant see it being) then just sell as is, if not get it fixed.

But then if someones offering you a grand now and it costs 300 to get fixed, then is it worth your time and effort for 100 quid extra? (assuming you sell for 1400).

Thats exactly my problem, I think I will ring a garage or two tomorrow and ask for an estimate, I'm thinking in total it will all cost me £400 to fix:

Battery: £50
Rear Reservior: £20
Sprocket: £15
Tyre: £75ish
Head gasket and camchain: ????
Tax: £40ish

So £200ish in parts before I've even got to the headgasket.

Also thinking about it I doubt I will be able to get it to a garage anyway as I am not insured on the bike and it ain't taxed and therefore cannot ride it!

Sad
