 |
|
ok so i bought this cbr 125, needed a few things doing to it, new pads, ect...
put it in for an MOT and the garage told me that it would fail on fork seals, head bearings and rear tyre..
ok so all has been done except this head bearing issue they said they have replaced them and for some reason its still too lose...
they said they can tighten it but then its too tight, and its too lose so fails the MOT, they dont know exactly what the problem is at all, theres mention of the actual tube of the frame now ? saying it might be a big job ?
in total the bike has been there 2 weeks now, ordering parts ect waiting for a slot to fit it into the workshop and i still havent got it back
today im told they have been trying all morning but on a test ride it still isnt behaving, they have a backlog of work so are having to put it aside till they get another chance to look at it, ( i think they started work on thursday afternoon, friday, closed sunday till today at 12pm...
so what can it be, its only a 4 year old bike and they seem to not have a clue its costing me a fortune, i just dont want to be taken for a mug....
any ideas ?
please help |

Hi
I have had a bike where the head stock went slightly oval, but it would be fairly obvious when taking the old bearing out and certainly not cause noticeably play when new ones were put in unless really bad.
My guess is that someone has done something silly. Get it back and get someone to look at it. It Odie is willing then that sounds like a good plan.
All the best

yeh thanks guys,
odie, it would be amazing if you could sort something, of course i would be eternally greatfull and pay you for your time.
the story is, im 25 years old and this is my 1st bike, bought it to get to work on, knew a few things needed to be done and taught my self, changed the oil, new spark plug, new filter, new pads new tyre.
gone through the MOT and fails on play on the headset, this is going into the 3rd week it has been there now awaiting parts and getting looked at once a week for 5 mins.
the guy who i bought it off even rode it homefor 10 miles so i know it cant be that bad,
they are saying they get it set up perfect no play in the headset but when they take it for a ride it tightens up. to me it sounds like they havent replaced a washer or something silly.
i found this :
https://www.mmra.org.uk/marci/cbr125/cbrtech/pages/f6yokebottom.htm
which i would be interested in checking as they said there is nothing else in there to replace other than headbearings, im wondering if they are missing something,
anyway i passed my CBT 3 weeks ago and have been taking the bus ever since lol, spent £250 on clothing and a lid, dying to get out and ride,
all i have so far is a large labour bill, 3 weeks of wasted time and a so called "bike for spares"
i would love any help avalible on this if you didnt mind odie,
i will give the bike untill monday to have a final look, pay up the bill and then give you a buzz if thats ok
do you have an msn or email i can contact you on ?
and of course i will update you on the progress here
here she is before she went into the hell hole of a garage :
