I've borrowed Fallout 3 on the Xbox, been playing it for a bit and now can't get any further. Reason being, the game crashes!

I got out of the bunker thing, did what i needed to in Megaton and then went to go out of the gates to go into the wastelands again.
Everytime i tried, it loaded then crashed. So i went back to the save point before Megaton town and it did it again, this time i just went into the gates and then went back out, or tried anyway.

Whats going on here?! Disc doesn't look particularly marked or scratched. Confused

I know on the PC version Bethesda have released that many patches to try to sort it yet it is still crashing all the time. Spoiled the whole game IMO. Thumbs Down

Only played the PS3 version, but had no real issues. The only thing i can say to try is to load the save where your in Megaton and try to fast travel back to Vault 101 and see if you can get out that way.

If not does the disk seem scratched or damaged at all?

That' strange, i played it through twice on xbox and it didn't didn't crash for me once.

Can't remember what region my copy was though. If the person you borrowed it off says it's fine then maybe you have a dirty lazer?

You're right i should try that, i wasn't sure if you could do that, i did notice something when playing. Do i do it on the map?

Hmm, the disc i think has very light marks, nothing major.
What can i get to clean my lazer? Is it one especially for consoles?

It was fairly buggy on the PS3 still playable but more buggy than usual games. I found I kept getting stuck in things and right at the end I had to play the end sequence about 5 times before it ran right.

Go to your pip boy, load the world map then select the place you want to jump to and click it. it'll ask if you want to fast travel and off you go!

You can't do it in buildings though, just step outside and give it a whirl.

This is the first game I've got my platinum trophy for. Bloody loved it, but I'm now stuck trying to find something else to play!

I restarted the whole game, and this time the game loads back into wastelands. I also installed the game to the hard drive. All good now! Thumbs Up

I keep having the same problem but on the PS3. Although i am much further on than you, i am in that town that is on the ship (i forget its name).

I pocketed someone, then saved it to go to sleep. Now when i try and play it again, it crashes about 30-45 seconds later (regardless of whether i sit still and wait, or run around)

Disc is absolutley perfect, tried 'blowing' out the disc slot thing but obvously it is pretty awkaward with the felt flap thingy covering it.

Could probably do with trying it on some other games but it has crashed a few times on the dashboard/home screen thing.

Thanks for ruining that part then Thumbs Up

It's well worth having a good search for bobbleheads and they really help your stats out. If people are getting stuck, feel free to PM me rather than post up here and spoil the story for others.

I'm kinda stuck looking for something else to play now I've finished this. Any suggestions of good stuff for the PS3?

Depends what sort of games you are into. I believe you can get Far Cry 2 for the PS3, which i have for the 360. It is really good but gets a bit tedious after a while.

New RE5 is supposed to be good, to be honest i haven't really kept upto date with all the new games recently.

Far Cry 2 I loved to begin with, but all the driving then started to annoy me. You spent most of your time just driving from place to place and getting attacked loads. You could clear out a check point, but the next time you came past all the blokes were back!

At least in Fallout people stayed dead!!!

I'm gutted that Fable 2 was only on 360 as I loved the first one. I may have a look to see if there is anything like that about or coming out for the playstation at any time soon.

I had the same problem, the only way I managed to solve it was to go back to a previous save (which means I lost a few hours Evil or Very Mad ).

However the first time I played it through I didn't have a problem at all, it only came to the second time I played it I encountered this problem. Confused

Not that I can help with your problem, but I also had horrible failings in fallout3. I can no longer use the VATS system so the only combat I have available to me is the horrible clunky standard shooting. It rendered the game impossible to play so I haven't been on it in about 4 months.

Shame really as I was enjoying it..

I never used VATS for killing people anyway, used it to see where the enemies were but when it came to killing them i used the normal way of shooting. Found that i could kill them a lot quicker/using less bullets.

As I was still fairly early into the game the guns I had weren't great. And I found frequently combat would involve an enemy run directly at me to kill me, so I would run directly backwards shooting till it died, then move back up to where I was and do the same for the next enemy. Got a bit dull quickly Laughing.

Seeing as it isn't appreciated I feel that you should sell it on for a ridiculously low price to somebody who would love it dearly Mr. Green
