Sauce - when is it officially OK to go brown??

What's the official lowdown on when it is acceptable to use HP/Brown sauce over ketchup? ... its been concerning me for a while ...

I tend to have tomato on say chips but brown on say bacon butty ...

Are there any hard and fast rules in sauce application I should be adhering too!?!?

For me, I'd say ketchup for burgers, brown for chips, bacon, and fried eggs.

Also, to give ketchup a bit of zing, try putting some ground dried chillis in the ketchup bottle with the ketchup and giving it a good shake. You could probably use chilli powder, just not quite as good.

Red for chips & fried eggs.

Brown for everything else.

However, if the chips are served with red meat you must revert to brown.

If it's got egg with it, then brown. So egg and bacon sandwich, cheese omlette, full english breakfast - brown sauce. If it's got chips with it, red. So fish and chips, chip butty, sausage chips and beans - red. If you have both egg and chips on the same plate, you may choose either.

However, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce are always welcome, as is English mustard.

I am near sure it has gluten in it so I cant have it and I havnt had a saucage roll in 6 years. Stupid f*cking allergy
