Triumph TT600 Coil

Hey all

My tt600 (03) started misfiring on one cylinder recently. I've heard of water collecting in the plug well, so decided to check them all out. All the coils came out fine bar the #4 RHS coil. Eventually after a lot of WD40 and a possible hernia, I got it out to find the insulation had split. Which explains why it was wedged in so much.

So I need to get a new coil. Any one know where I can get one from, cheaply and quick.

The coil is a Denso with 129700-3990 J0399 written on it. Google has failed me this time, I'm hoping BCF wont.

I take it you have tried Ebay ??
If you go on the link and type in your location it will find your nearest dealer, then you will be able to get a number for the shop and have them get one in and send it you or to collect.
I have to do things this way round with a few parts for my bike.

Or were you hoping to get one cheap, because dealers will charge top wack !

Tried ebay, and have sent a few e-mails to breakers. Just waiting on their replys.

Surprising how hard it is to get parts for triumphs. Got three dealers to ring tomorrow.

Realistically I think you could use most coils of a similar sized il4.

Theres a few second hand Daytona coils on ebay for around £30.

Thanks for the help chris, didn't realise the daytona 600 also used the same plugs.

£35 is more reasonable.

I'm quite intrigued about the "any similar cc il4 coils should would".

I've found a set of four cbr600rr 03 coils for £35. Do you reckon they would work fine? Or is it just worth getting the single correct one?

Just to add a little more to my post. Read that the codes on the denso stick coils relate to resistance and such.

Apparently the first denotes resistance, the second operating temperatures and the third a manufacturer denotation.

tt600 = 129700-3990 J0399
cbr600rr = 129700-4510
gsxr600 = 129700-4400 J0440

They look identical, but I can't find specifications for resistance or operating temperatures.
