After lusting after one for ages I finally took the plunge and bought myself this beast last week:

This thing is completely mental, it's got a 954 'Blade engine in giving it about 350bhp/tonne and goes like stink It's also the most impractical car ever, having no roof, no doors, no windscreen, no reverse, no boot, no fuel guage etc. Dead good fun though Thoroughly recommend one! ____________________ 1999 GSX-R 600, 1999 TL1000R |

Jealous.
There's one fundamental issue stopping me having one - there's no room in the garage. I need to move house. |

There's nowhere to put one under a cover either, parking's maxed out as it is. See 'move house'.
Got a 7 booked for a day in Scotland soon, I suspect it'll only make the longing worse. |

When paddling around I sometimes wish the Pan had a reverse.
Wouldn't mind one myself (the car)

Pan probably weighs about 25-30% less than the car... think the Goldwing does have a reverse? But for that we're talking the difference between it and the car easily being a pillion.
Believe there's some appropriate flooring stuff around, Bendy . |

Some bike engined cars have a gearbox that will reverse the entire gear range, others have a car starter motor for the purpose... some also have none as you can see . |

Have seen a R1 with a reverse, the female rider couldnt get enough foot down to paddle back.
I believe it was attached to the starter? ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

Cheers guys
The car primarily doesn't have a reverse 'cos it's got a bike gearbox (as John said), the builder didn't want to add a reverse as the car was built to weigh as little as possible. Normal Caterhams/Westfields weigh about 600kgs normally, this weighs under 450kg, so it's pretty light, even for a kit car. This means pushing it around is a peice of cake really, it's a lot easier to push around than a big bike 'cos you don't have to worry about it falling over! You don't even need to push it if you strategically park somewhere you can roll into/out of You do look a bit of a tit doing a 3 point turn by pushing it though! Haven't quite learnt how to spin it around F1 style yet...
It cost me £7625, but my bro chipped in £1k, so £6625 really. I'm hoping not to lose much when it comes to selling, they don't seem to depreciate too much. Cheap on insurance too Only cost me £450 to insure fully comp, and that's with a 100% weighting as I'm only 23, if I was 25 it'd be about £225! It's also taxed as a bike, so more money saving It's a very sensible purchase really... ____________________ 1999 GSX-R 600, 1999 TL1000R |
