Watched a documentary on this not long ago. People don't react well to it. They were in the dark, alone for 48 hours in a cell and it was messing with people heads very early in.

Found it.

I'd go with digging my way out or coming up with a method of escaping via the food delivery/waste disposal system, either way i'd spend my entire time thinking about how I could get out. I think i'd cope if I knew it would end, it's not the same if you don't.

I did ten months in SC, the only people I saw were the guards and my lawyer about once a month.

During that period I had one period of twenty days and another of ten days where every single item bar my private food was removed from the cell as extra punishment.

It was character-building. Laughing

Wank...till I'm dry...

Laugh/Cry out of sheer boredom...

Count the hairs on my legs...

Wank...

Push ups, Sit-ups, Squat Thrusts, shit like that...

Count the hairs on my ring piece...

Do stupid impressions...

Wank...

Sing and Wank...

Dirty Protest...

Aside from frequent masterbation, I'd go with doing press-ups/sit-ups etc to stay reasonable healthy.

Probably try my hand at meditation, since with no distractions and endless time with which to practice I'd eventually hit the zen state and entertain myself through vivid hallucinations and such.

I remember reading a Will Smith interview when he was building his character for "I am Legend" where he spoke to people on death row an shit to try and find out how they cope with being solitary for years on end. All I can remember is them saying how they would structure their days to a strict regimen, such as spending 3 hours cleaning their nails. I think having some order and purpose for a given day was their atttempt to fight off insanity.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of people came out with some mental issues.

Interesting thread Thumbs Up

I smashed the cell up and went through the windows with both fists and the heed, which severed an artery and sprayed blood everywhere, all while fighting off three gorillas (small ones, they were Japs). Then I fought all the way to the block (seven of them at that point), screaming abuse all the way. In the block they took my clothes off me and gave me prison-issue to wear. I shredded that and stuffed it down the toilet. Then I covered all the vision-slots with blood and screamed abuse through a crack in a hatch, which could be heard over most of the prison. I calmed down after that (loss of blood I think), then they stitched me up and I went on hunger-strike for ten days, at which point they attempted to force-feed me. I was too weak to resist so I said I'd eat normally again (rather than have the tube forced down my nose). Thus I spent the last ten months of my time in that concentration camp. Then I was acquitted and got £35,000 compo. HA!!! Motherfuckers! Middle Finger Laughing

Bit of a shock hearing about a modern country with such a backwards prison system.

Not really a great fan of 'serious' fiction.

Douglas Adams or trashy sci-fi etc maybe for light laughs, but most of the time I'm reading sciency stuff if I'm bothering to read. Only read on my lunch break and when on holiday/travelling by train.

But either way, they certainly make it seem miserable anyway.

Depends on the situation and the environment. If i had a court case at the end of it i would spend my time visualizing my freedom and reliving my life-learn to visualize so clearly it became as perfect as sight.

If the environment was 100% dark and i had no concerns i would use the time to trip...the constant darkness does wonders for your brain chemistry:

Tryptophan -> Seratonin -> Melatonin -> Pinoline -> 5-MeO-DMT ->DMT.....

Quote:
The darkness actualizes successively higher states of divine consciousness, correlating with the synthesis and accumulation of psychedelic chemicals in the brain. Melatonin, a regulatory hormone, quiets the body and mind in preparation for the finer and subtler realities of higher consciousness (Days 1 to 3).
Pinoline, affecting the neuro-transmitters of the brain, permits visions and dream-states to emerge in our conscious awareness (Days 3 to 5). Eventually, the brain synthesizes the “spirit molecules” 5-methoxydimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) and dimethyltryptamine (DMT), facilitating the transcendental experiences of universal love and compassion (Days 6 to 12)

Be a bit fucked afterwards of course Laughing...times tables or the unspeakable unwordable experience..i know what id choose Laughing

From that news link Laughing i love how out of touch "modern science" is with what was known 1000"s of years ago Laughing.
