Ah, had a mate offer me a Showa rear for £50.

Only problem is it is off a 93... Thinking

Which makes it an F2, not F3.

What do you guys reckon? At a push I could get it off him, fit it and see without charge. But its a massive ballache for a 'suck it and see' affair.

F2
F3

Fair play, no body seems to care about your post Smile

But to be helpful, a lot of OE supersport rear shocks will fit onto supersport bikes of a similar design, so you shouldn't have too much trouble with the small differences. Any chance you could get an Ohlins shock at a push though?

Possibly, but wouldn't it screw up the handlng/geometry?
bike still rides fine, just likes to run wide and bumps hurt alot more then usual.

Looking at an OE one from a 98 on fleabay for 32 quid inc postage, reckons it is from a low mileage stored bike. So I might just take the punt on that one.. Thinking

Ohlins...? If you can find one cheap I'd love one. For a 13 year old hack though...

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

It's good, but not what I'm after.

Saving up for South Africa remember, and until something actually goes I can't justify spending money on it. Especially not a whole weeks wages in one.

Hence 100 quid tops, and at this rate I'll probably get a 98 OE one and bang that in.

Do you know the mileage of the bike it was off? Also where do you live? Might be able to pick it up.

Ah, so you may know about using other shocks?

I might still be interested, but a mate has offered an almost brand new Showa for 50 quid off his 93. I was certain it wouldn't fit, but I've just seen an ebay ad for a race shock 'to fit 91-98'... Thinking

I'm picking the sellers brains about how he knows, but I'd rather go for the race shock if I can.

lol, likewise.

I got this off the geezer today (the 91-98 guy);

Quote:
im 100% certain it will fit cbr 600 91-98 years
and yes it will alter things ever so slightly but it is what proflex supply as there most suitable to race track setup

thanks for the interest

gaz

Which sounds very much like 'it /will/ fit, but the handling may be ahem... odd'.

Hmm Thinking
