Here we have another one.

Officer in armoured gauntlets WITHOUT SHOULDER NUMBERS strikes a woman then batons her legs out from under her...

Clicky.

One has to wonder how many more of these incidents are going to crawl out of the woodwork over the next few weeks?

And for every one caught on film there were hundreds of others that weren't.

These scum have been doing this for decades. Suddenly the media decides to start making an issue of it. Well, we won't look that particular gift-horse in the mouth, if it finally makes the pigs accountable to the same law they profess to uphold.

He forgot to wear his fireproof (camera proof) mask. Surprised
Why are the media making an issue out of this? Twenty five years ago the miners were having a rough time, the media didn't seem to be behind them a lot then.

Hetzer is right, this is all fairly routine and tame.

Protesters have always put up with police brutality.

At most, the "bad apples" will lose a few days salary. That's why the met is quick to investigat it: so that it can pass it off as the action s of a few bad apples. But it's clearly a policy from above, the police trying to perfect their crowd control methods, for the mass herding that's to follow.

You think this is bad?

In a few years time when the police are routinely tazering the public for any minor infraction, and there's mass employ of "sound weapons" to keep people in line, we'll look back in fondness to the days of bruised legs.

The technology of the time didn't allow for small handheld video/still cameras that was also a phone. The internet was without broadband (anyone remember dial-up modems?) and you got your news via the BBC and ITV and saw the pictures the next day in the papers.

Now with instant uploads the images are viewed on the other side of the world in seconds.

I'm sorry but whatever the reporter attempts to balance or justify in the video, since when is physical violence a "proportionate" response to a bit of verbal.

Hope something big comes of this.

I remember seeing a film of the police beating miners and also the police smashing up a hippy camp. The media decided not to show these films on the news at the time. I watched them about 15 years ago. I think it was on Channel 4.

The officer in the latest video has been suspended.

I make that about 3 hours from the video hitting the news to suspension. Looks like all the fuss from the first video has had some effect

I 'wonder why' the officers around him haven't been suspended too, for clearly failing to arrest somebody (the thug) for criminal assault (two instances of it).

What a fucking charade. "Oh, you've got it on film...we were going to deal with him anyway, honestly!"

It's disgusting and the copper should be trampled to death by protesters for what he's done.

But you could see why he's venting his frustrations, though I am in no way advocating what he did as he abused his position of power, but for example think of your job, if your customers came in everyday complaining and mouthing off at you, for something that is out of your power, calling you a cvnt etc, everyday, one day you will snap, and backhand a customer mouthing you off. To do your job everyday and the people you once tried to help, you grew to despise because no-one appreciates what you do.
Some people in this country want double standards. Keep tabs on people so paedos don't get in the school, but god forbid you keep tabs on me you nazis. What it boils down to is humanity, look at the police, some are real scum, you notice these as they are supposed to protect you, you don't notice the good ones "cos their just doin' their jobs". Look at society, it is largely made up of grumpy cvnts who don't care about others, no matter what line of work they're in.

People are dicks.
Coppers are people.
Coppers are dicks.

The reporter was being way too lenient, describing the woman as provoking the officer, implying that she is to blame for the incident.

Someone who believes that the police are subject to the rule of law would understandably want to tell off a police officer who had just slapped her.

She wouldnt have expected that would provoke a reaction of being struck with a baton.

It is all very terrible, but realistically, in crowd control, when outnumbered, some police are bound to use more force than you might expect, to try to gain the upper hand when outnumbered.

Im not saying its right, but it may be sort of inevitable.

Seeing the chaos in Thailand where initially protesters were allowed to run amock, has made me realise that there may be an argument for riot police using a bit of excessive force to move people along.

I dont believe its a few bad apples, I think they are taught to use force even when they are not under threat. Its a dangerous game to play though as it can provoke a reaction from the crowd.

Officer has yet to be named but has been identified.

Seems he's a Sergeant in FIT at Belgravia and has rather a nasty reputation.

The black cop looks a bit shocked by it but the rest are just looking as if it was a nightclub punchup.

If you can't take the abuse, don't join the police.

It's like joining the army, then looking surprised when people start shooting at you.

Watch from about 3:10

first time just scanned trough it but then decided to look at it again.

You can see that the police were letting people walk into the kettle area but not out. You can see a few females and the odd camera guy talking to the police but being turned away in what would appear to be a low key manner, as you would expect. You also see at 1.08 the female and her mate walking behind the police lines away from where the offending officer has been stood. seen at 1.37. at 1.42 you can see the woman taking photos of the crowd and the police. usual noises expected and still low key. Then you see and hear the black guy starting to give aggro and be louder than the rest. he is pushed back several times but still moves forward in a confrontational manner, which none of the other protesters had done. at 3.4 you see the " offending officer give support and you also see and hear the female give abuse. she is pushed back once and instructed to move back on several occasions, but she still moves into confront the " offending " officer who then sweeps her away, again she confronts him and this is when he uses his batton. the police/protesters quickly quieten down and calm seems to be restored but the chanting is now directed at the police.

I blame the black guy in the long coat with the news paper for inciting the incident in the first place as before that all was peaceful. He needs to be found and hung from the highest tower.

IIRC the black guy was off camera when the commotion started and it's unclear whether or not he was upset by the police doing something to him.

At 3.11 you can hear the black guy giving it the chatter, 3.14 see him, at 3.24 you hear a female officer firmly, but politely telling him he is not being let through, at 3.34 you can see him being pushed back.

I would love to see half hour before and the half hour after.
