20 years on and still no justice for the 96, their families and the survivors of that horrific day.

I was just a little Reds fan then, and didn't properly understand what had happened until a few years later.

It horrifies and upsets me every time I read the accounts and see the photos.

RIP the 96

Very sad to see the number of teenagers and it's easy to forget the number who were injured and those who still carry the memory of what happened.

i wasn't born when it happened but as a scouser and a reds fan the 96 are still in my thoughts.
Shame it took a disaster to happen before the stadiums were improved

I have some questions about Hillsborough that can wait for another time.
But what really brought it home, and me to tears, was when I had a pupil whose Dad had died at Hillsborough ( I knew people who had been there and given first aid on the pitch to those who died or were dieing and had seen things that could only be done by the lowest of the low) The lad talked about his Dad and what he remembered of him while he was taking lessons with me. It was at the time of his test that it really got me, when the lad went in and said he was doing it for his Dad and to make him proud. The lad past first time and dedicated it to his Dad. The lad cried all the way home because it was something that he couldn't really share with the one person he wanted to.

My 3 uncles and my little cousin were at that match, they were lucky that day, they should have been in the area of the tragedy but had to move for some reason or other. They returned home that day, traumatised, but alive.

As for the Sun, it was never bought again by any of my family and I won't even glance at it.

To the 96 victims, RIP and to the families, take comfort in knowing they will never be forgotten.

I can't believe it was 20 years ago...I remember it all so clearly...it was all over the news and everywhere, especially oop north, I lost friends in the crowd and everything, it was a horrible time.

I've only been a reds fan for 15 years, but i still remember it and still would never buy the sun....what they printed was absolutely disgusting and they're a disgrace and their appology will never be accepted.

As for the people who caused it well they'll never get the blood of they're hands

Im still not comfortable with the idea of there not being any justice. I dont think you can blame any one person for such a tragic incident.

The other thing that i'm not comfortable with is that no-one seems to remember the Ibrox Disaster of '71 nor the Burden Park disaster of '46, I mean they didnt even stop the game in 1946 when 33 died.

However, at least with the policemen in this case, it was a genuine mistake.

The lies printed in the Sun by Kelvin Mckenzie afterwards were unbelievably offensive nonsense.

I pass the memorial outside the Hillsborough ground on the way into work - was going to stop on the way bak yesterday to pay my respects but it was surrounded by TV vans and the like. RIP 96 dudes and dudettes.

Having been a footie supporter and been to far to many games in my life. I feel sad for the 96 families.
But 20 years on its time not to forget, but to let the whole thing drop.

Justice will never be done, as many a true supporter will know the real guilty are the unticketed that turned up, then when the gates were opened to ease the crush outside (where there was risk of life) surged in and caused the crush.

Many know this happened on a regular basis, and was by far the best way to get into a big match when you could not get a ticket.

Sadly the real truth would hurt too much, that it was the fans ( very loose description ) that were the real guilty parties.

In a way the real villains, are the hooligans that caused the fences to be put up inside grounds, thus stopping people from escaping from the crush.

Its amazing that something like this never happened before.

And hooligans still exist today, but matches are safer for everyone.

It was the usual government response of punish the law abiding majority because of the actions of a few. Caging human beings in like animals, herding and packing them into derelict pens, did not solve the problem of hooliganism.
