So when your camping, do you just get the good old frying pan out, or do something a little different.
One of my favorites is to get the 2 plates from my cheapy tesco cooking set, found here.
https://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-4142.aspx
And put them alterately in the big pot, so they make a raised platform, then fill it with water about half way up the top plate, fill it with all the good grub, like sausages, meat balls, fish, veg. Then pop the lid on and let it all steam until the water is all gone. Then you take the lid off and enjoy.
What do you do?
Cheers

On a more sensible note.
I try to use as few pot/pans and other bits as nessecary.
Rice and pasta are good for camping as they dont take long to cook and are easy to store. I usually take a few boil in the bag meals, just in case but prefer not to use them. ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

Whilst I can cook, when I go camping/rallying with the lads we give all the stuff to one of the bloke that's with us and he cooks for us, he's a fantastic cook...
He has no choice or say in the matter though... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |

well after spending 4 days camping out at brands hatch this weekend and running out of gas on the last night that morning breakfast was cooked using a makeshift grill consisting of about 30 tee lights and a rack fashioned out of the top of a disposable bbq.
ok so it took over an hour to boil the water for a brew and cook some bacon but hey.. it worked
if id have gotten up earlier i woulda just got some wood and built a proper fire but my m8s other half had set it up and she seemed so proud of herself i didnt wanna interupt (and i dont eat bacon anyway so i was quite safe ) ____________________ CBR954RR - Daily toy

Didn't somebody once manage to cook a fray bentos pie on a coleman stove?.
In that Fray bentos pies seem more space efficient than ramen which I am considering bringing as backup food incase we are stuck in the back and beyond. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I really like the bacon and beans Some of the others are a bit rank, though. Still got a couple of boxes somewhere.
Some good ideas here
I try and get things that are already cooked, and just need heating.
Morrisons do ambient pouches of chicken curry, one of those Uncle Bens rice pouches and you're sorted.
Another nice one is a small tin of stewed steak and tin of baby spuds - throw them in the one pot, but it's nicer than tinned stew (which always seems to have a weird taste )
Hot dogs are essential. They can be eaten cold, or heated and wrapped in bread (if you have any), chopped up with pasta and a small pouch of tomato & chilli pasta sauce or thrown in (drained) with aforementioned bacon and beans, fry an egg in the pan lid and there's brekkie.
I just wish I could find ambient (non-chilled) pouch ones, to save on space of tins.
I tend to also take a couple of Mug-Shots with me,
https://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Images/ExternalImages/ProductsDetailed/63/026963.jpg they take up no space at all, just need hot water mug and spoon, very filling and are actually edible, unlike Pot Noodles and the like.
For the inevitable washing up, use as few pots as possible, then I take a little tupperware tub with a scourer sponge and a travel shampoo bottle filled with Fairy, then it's dead easy to wash everything using the biggest pan as a washing up bowl. ____________________ CBR125|||GSXR400|||CBR400|||CBR400|||CB250RS|||GSXR750|||CB250RS

What is this camping thing that you are talking about?
Is it like when you order room service instead of going to the restaurant?

If you have got to take freeze dried stuff take stuff from "Expedition Foods." (I have tried a lot of different brands and these win hands down). I always take a couple of these when walking. The Korma and the Apple and Custard are brilliant. Good to have in your bag if you are stuck/can't be arsed.
Last year on my mini tour it was 2 minute rice and one of these:

Expedition foods is even worse £15 for army ration packs, as said I'd rather pay £8 to get a 24 box of 2 minute ramen or 4-5 Fray bentos pies for a couple of those things!. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die.
