I remember reading a thread on here ages ago about how many crashes people had been in and I was shocked to see people had numerous crashes.

Well after 1 1/2 months 3 crashes and the bikes written off. (I'm quite a competent rider, honest Embarassed )

Last one was rather hectic. I was on the M1 junction 14 roundabout and a car flies off the motorway in to my path on the roundabout and then slams its fucking brakes on when they see me so there stopped slap bang in my way. Over the bonnet and my bike goes somewhere or other but ends up behind me but in front of the car somehow. Got a witness so all's ok insurance wise I hope. The only thought in my head as I knew I was going to hit was "Shit, I hope this won't affect my insurance too badly." Weird what you think as you hurtle towards large chunks of metal.

Im starting to get quite a collection of Nitro NV800's shame I cant do anything with them.

A&E was amazed but said I was fine just strained some neck muscles (landed on head) and some overall brusing.

Sorry to hear mate!!

Glad your relatively ok! Could have been much worse if the car was 0.5 seconds later!

hope you get it sorted quickly and get back on your bike.

I know that "Shit! Insurance" flash you get a fourth of a second before you hit a car. Same happened to me friday night with my car. Didn't realize it and went down a one way street, at the end of the street I thought I had priority so I didn't stop and tried driving right past the junction, another car tries crossing and drives straight into my door at high speed. The one and only thing that crossed my mind was my insurance Razz I couldn't care less about the blood everywhere or that my 4-door car had been reduced to a 2-door car, I just felt bad being in an accident and at fault. Spoke to my insurance today and they want me to pay the first 300 pounds damage on the car that hit me. What kind of insurance policy is this?! Evil or Very Mad I might as well have not insured myself and saved the money in a bank.
Insurance companies are just as evil as banks imo Rolling Eyes

That's a perfectly normal policy and procedure with insurance companies. It's called the excess, which you have to pay before they'll pay the REALLY expensive bit! You should have been told about that when you got your insurance, and they usually ask you how much excess you want to pay in the event of an accident as it tends to bring your premium down in the process.

I'm guessing that A: you didn't read the documentation properly, or B: are new to insuring a vehicle and have never had to claim before.

Also, don't drive the wrong way up a one-way street, it would help save you money on insurance no end! Rolling Eyes

I know I'll sound pathetic saying this but I'm 19. My dad handles everything Laughing

By the way, I'll be permanently moving to London in september and getting a motorbike. Will my insurance policy be stopped when I leave or can I transfer it to cover the bike? Or would I have to find a british insurer? and would he have access to my history?

Forgot to mention I live in Cyprus Razz

You'll probably have to start fro scratch with insurance. I don't think you can tansfer car insurance over to bikes, there are only a few companies that allow you to tansfer No Claims Bonus over.

If you need bike insurance PM Danny here on the forum, he's the insurance God around here. Wink Thumbs Up

Also, I'm not sure how your driving license will stand up in the UK. You might have to do your CBT and bike test (depending on what size bike you imagine getting) before you can ride over here.

Unless your Cypriat license allows that already?

And there are probably more one-way streets in London, so I'd be extra careful! Laughing

Your Cypriat license will be ok over here (I know a guy who did his bike test while he was over there with the RAF (Examinor: (pointing to GSXR750 he was riding) Did you ride that here? Mate: Yes. Examinor: Did you crash? Mate: No. Examinor: Well done - you passed) and tra nsferred it over to a UK license when he got back) however your insurance will count for diddly squat.

I know you guys don't recommend it but I'm gonna learn how to ride a bike this summer on my friends gsxr600 on empty roads (august nicosia = ghost town) and then show up at the test center, drive in the circle they've drawn on the floor, pay 20 quid and get my license. Its valid in the UK and I will have saved myself a lot of money. Once in London I'm going to get a 125 or 400 to start with and take things slowly and sensibly, and If i notice its too dangerous and I'm missing something I'll take some lessons. I know it sounds unfair for you guys but I'm broke at the moment and you all know a students life in the UK is very tight.

How much does a full insurance cost? I'm guessing its a bit more than the 180 I'm paying for my third-party-only covered civic atm Razz Will I get decent treatment from Danny? My insurance company gave me a lot of stick for crashing, they told me they wouldn't renew my insurance If i wasn't safer and didn't pay up the 300 pounds (even though the damage might be less) and I told them I had no intention of renewing the insurance since i was leaving the country and the cun.t told me they would notify the cops and not let me out of the country if I didn't pay. Totally unprovoked and nasty
