taking fags back from abroad.

I´m in Mallorca, and the fags here are really cheap. Does anyone know how many I can legally take back duty free? Or how many I am likely to get away with?

Depends if you get caught tbh you are supposed to be allowed to take as much as you want but remember the government wants to protect its tax revenue at all costs.

On return of my Spanish trip there was this guy who had one of those big square sports bags stuffed full of cartons, disembarking off the ferry I saw his car was utterly stuffed with these sports bags as I cruised next to him on the A38.

As said, its 3200. If more you need to prove the're for personal use.

One chance in thousands that you'll get stopped at customs anyway, especially coming from Spain.

It´s a lastminute.com holiday so it´s hand luggage only, I was only thinking of bringing back about 160 lol.

You wouldn't be stopped going through the x-ray, that bit is run by airport security. If you were going to be stopped it would be coming back through UK customs at the airport - customs is the bit you just walk through, having shown your passport to immigration.

You can get offensively cheap fags there. I was in Tenerife in Jan, and I bought a carton of fags for €4.90, just because I could.

In the good old days before the ound dropped out of it's own arse we used to bring back about 30kg of baccy and about 20,000 fags between 4 of us

Did get stopped once and got some of it of confiscated though.

160 isn´t a carton, but I can´t really fit one, they have 8 packs for 8 euros 80 cents where we are.
