 |

Just got myself a swedish army trangia, and a need help with a couple of things.
It doesnt have any means of controlling the flame other than adjusting the little struts that hold the pan above the burner. Anything that can be done to give a little more control?
Also, boiling water? Could I just use an aluminium water bottle, or would it melt/distort? I find the odd shape of the trangia makes it unsuited to regular shaped kettles.
Any other tips on using them? Quite happy with its performance and simplicity so far ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

Had a Trangia years ago, it's probably still in the cupboard somewhere.
Great little stove, meths burner. Only downside was the sooty residue left on the cooking pots.
As standard should come with two pans and a frying pan type lid.
Each of pans fitted inside the base with holes with the pan on top as a lid. Burner stored inside the pans.
The little flip up prongs allow you to fit each pan.
As for the burner mine came with a lid you screwed on. It also came with a clip on ring that folded over the actual burner holes.
So you had 2 setting, full (ring cover off) or low (ring cover flipped over).
IIRC you could actually get a small kettle that replaced one of the pans.
Technique was to set it up with the holes in the base into the wind.
Also don't screw the lid on until you're sure the burner's cold or the rubber washers melt. However, upside down the lid's good for extinguishing the burner (or just blow very hard straight down into it).
Having done a google I see they haven't changed much, except you can have gas burner and non-stick pans now (see here).

Found the accessories, including kettle here.

I store the burner in the kettle without any problem. It should have a screw lid which seals the burner. I then just wrap it all in a plastic bag and its fine.
