Cures/Help for really bad tickly cough

Ive basically got a seriously savage tickly cough, i couldnt sleep last night because of it and woke up every 20 minutes choking my guts up basically.

Ive tryed all the cough syrups etc. none seem to work they either last for about 10 minutes or just make it worse, was just wondering if the wisdom of bcf could help me out, my lungs and throat at dying from this so need help asap

Honey? Depends on the cause of the cough to a certain extent I would imagine, but trying a spoonful of honey isn't gonna kill you or the bank, so maybe worth a try - oh, the set stuff is better than the runny stuff, but whatever you've got in'll do!

When I had that really bad infected chest that was going round last autumn, the only thing that helped was Covonia. Nasty tasting but effective.

Otherwise, the really gloppy Vicks cough medicine seems to feel as though its coating your throat on the way down. Might help.

might give the covonia stuff a try, ive tryed that vicks stuff only seemed to last/stop my coughing for about 15 minutes then i was off again, ill give honey a go aswell.

i just caught a cold and got this god awfull tickly throat/cough along with it and its horrible, ive just been drinking tons of ice cold water which seems to be helping to a certain extent and hot drinks seem to help aswell but they dont stop it which kinda sucks.

thanks for your help guys much appreciated, any more suggestions welcome aswell just incase the others backfire

Large swig of Night Nurse knocks me out until morning. Stops the coughing long enough for me to fall asleep, then keeps me there.

Benylin original, tasty, though a bit of an 'acquired taste' .
Does the 'knocking out' thing as well as the cough-curing, so helps with sleeping.

Peppermint tea.

Cough medicine never works for me but peppermint tea works without fail. Just drink it for three or four days a few times a day and the cough'll disappear in no time. Sweeten it with honey. Tastes nice, the heat stops the tickly feeling, breaks up the phlegm in the back of your throat. Even just inhaling the steam off it helps a little.

Radiotherapy, seriously though, there wont be much difference if any at all between "over the counter" and "off the shelf" stuff. You dont need a prescription for either so neither will be THAT strong.

Here's a guaranteed fix, tastes rank but works for sore throats / coughs etc.

Put a few tablespoons of honey into a cup, and crush 2 cloves of fresh garlic into it. Cover it with clingfilm overnight and leave it in the fridge.
You won't believe the smell of the garlic when you take the cover off, but neck a tablespoon of this stuff and it will do the job without doubt!
