I was on the M4 yesterday 'making progress', saw a camera van on a bridge a little too late. Was doing 70mph as I went under the bridge and past it.

Can they swivel round easily? or do they have another camera facing backwards?

Confused

I think they let you off with a caution if you're not breaking the speed limit..........

Eh, you mean every vehicle that is not speeding is stopped and given a caution? Rolling Eyes

Anyway, its not easy to spin a camera round which is why most have a camera looking out of the front of them but it he was parked on a bridge I would imagine he was sideways anyway?

Wait 14 days and see if you receive a "this is not a circular" letter

They are forward facing.

Also remember the normal limit is speed + 10% + 2mph,
so 79 in a 70.

But then also remember your bike's speedo will be out by a few % also. (On my bike doing 80, my Tom Tom shows up as 73).

Not true. The guidelines for fucking you up the arse are as you posted, but if they could measure accurately enough they /could/ do you for 70.00001 in theory.

Strict liability as well Thumbs Down

It could well have been yes, heading westbound from Reading not long after the big stretch with specs cameras. Annoying thing was I didn't take the piss through there!

I had 110mph on the clocks when I spotted it so Its not a case of worrying about speedo innacuracy. Thinking back the motorway was pretty empty, I could have stopped under the bridge on the hard shoulder and covered the plate up with the bits on my luggage rack?!

I was hoping they couldn't swivel very easily, I guess its going to be a nervous few weeks. I was getting overtaken by cars at the time so its not as if I was the only thing on the road doing that speed and all he had to concentrate on.

Clean license since I was 17 Sad
