Hey, me and a friend who's on here are taking the S.E Winnah spirit on a trip to the Nurburgring next month. Has been in planning for a while.
We have a few ideas for hotel's to stay in whilst we're there but they're only inspired from what we've read on their respective websites.
So what we're after is recommendations from people who've stayed somewhere decent nearby.
Ideally as close as possible to the track, say up to 30 minutes away at most.
Would also like some nightlife or stuff to see during the day if the weather's shite.
As the exchange rate is pure shite at the moment, price is important too, we're staying for 3 nights so somewhere around £100 per person per night based on 2 sharing would be good.
Karma given along with many thanks to anyone with help.
Thanks ____________________ Sahf East Winnah 4LYF

Reet, I stayed at the ringhaus, which is as close as you can get to the track entrance - about 30 seconds' ride.
Is cheap, they have decent food and good beer. Rooms are fine, with an en suite. They also have an online room availability planner to see if they have room for you.
The management own another hotel in the town, tho I don't know what it is called.
I would say that for nightlife it is OK, but is slightly set away from the village of Nurburg - a ten/15 minute walk (downhill on the way home!), where there is a concentration of hotels/bars (and the Pistenklause ran by Sabine's parents).
For even better recommendations than me, get yourself on the ringers forum, who are vastly experienced, some of whom own guesthouses.
There is of course, Sliders guesthouse, ran by Bren, aka PB's Baron, which is focussed on bikers, but a 10 min ride from the track. Never stayed there personally.
I would try and get somewhere in Nurburg itself, but you may have trouble in summer at late notice...
Enjoy it, you bastard! |

I also stayed at Ringhaus, good, but rooms are pretty basic, trackside rooms have fantastic views of the pits.
Pistenklause is a definate reccomend, their steak on a stone is astounding, and a great atmosphere with a good chance of meeting a few famous faces.
Two tip's for the hotel bar, 1. check out the decor, the signatures are genuine, 2. More importantly BEWARE the offering of shots served with a white glove.............

Well, all the hotels are booked.
To save hassle on this wee tour i'v bought a european sat nav. A MyGuide something or other. £45 inc delivery. Shall do a write up of it after use, but other reviews say they're good.
Staying at this place

Was the only place who replied that actually had rooms left. Very cheap too. Hopefully it's a good place.
Also 2 seperate Formule1 hotels, 1 there, 1 back. For those who don't know about them, they're shit. But cheap.
Just over 2 weeks until we go.
Looking forward to it ____________________ Sahf East Winnah 4LYF

Although I haven't been on the ring, I have been there and was intending to use it but it started torrentially downpouring!
Just to say, it seems a lot of people go there just so they can say "they've done it" - In my experience, I probably wouldn't go again as I know what the roads in the black forest are like and they're free.
P.S As with any nurburgring topic, I shall reinforce the "take a credit card" statement I always come out with. |
