Well have you?

Randomly i was remembering years back pulling a mate of mine who was wearing full leathers and a lid while riding his cycle, he grabbed onto my rear grab rail and i gently accelerated away, he held on for about half a mile or so and when i started approaching/passing 60ish he bottled it and let go. (He was on a rubbish mountain bike not some slick thing with thin tyres)

I often gently ride around richmond deer park, and there is this one steep hill that all the cyclists struggle on (even the die hard lycra race bike ones), i often think about telling them to grab a hold.

Obveously stupid and dangerous but i was just wondering if anyone else has had or seen someone else with the balls to passed 50 ish, my mate who at the time had a 600 said it was scary to say the least even in full gear.

Myself i have never been towed by a bike but have grabbed onto the side of many a car in my cycling days for a tow, only upto about 30 mind.

Judging from this video, it's probably not the best idea.

That looked really sore, but the "wooooo hoooo hoooooooo!" *BANG* made me piss myself laughing.

I'd probably give it a shot with full gear on but don't get caught by the police.

Heh damn that looked like it would hurt.

Can't say I ever have, wonder if it would count as a helping hand or attempted murder in some cases Razz

From the point of view of Svengalie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csy2_65UAnc&feature=PlayList&p=3342201955846665&index=5

Pushbikes may be okay, but motorcycles, certainly not. Laughing

On my moped, towed my mate about 2 miles, he also had a fishing rod attached to his bike (sort of road racing bike) got up to about 35 and he said no faster so pulled him like that for a while... he would let go every time we saw/heared a car coming. He held onto my left arm with his left arm.

Me and another friend on our moped used to do it quite often for him Embarassed

I like how Don's was in full leathers etc, mine was in shorts, a t-shirt and a jacket. No helmet lol.

We must have been right plebs back then.

I've seen dusty tow a skateborder. Think it was around 30 (after some sustained towing) that it all went wrong. Somehow the 'border did manage to stay on his feet, but I've never seen someone run so fast! Perhaps they should use that technique for training sprinters Razz.

I've towed a BMX (rider wearing full bike gear) upto about 50, couldn't get much faster as I was on Derbi 50 at the time.

Last summer i gave my silly mate a tow on my Bandit, him on a rare Ferrari edition mountain bike.

He held onto the grab bar for a mile or so. We then reached a long steepish hill where he got a sling shot off me and tucked in behind me in the slip stream. He beat his personal speed record on his cycle reaching 51mph....or so he claimed Laughing

Pulled a few cyclists and rollerbladers when i had a 50cc years ago. Got caught and reminded of the highway code by a young bobby.

I went to Ebbsfleet along the A2 on the NC29 with my mate Rob, Who was on a 50cc Scooter. I think it was a Gillera or something.

Anyway, He flicked one of his pillion pegs out, And I placed my right foot on the pillion peg, And began to push him.

Bearing in mind I had Roxanne on the back of the NC29 with me, And rob was on the scooter. I managed to get both of us up to an indicated 90mph.

So can a 50cc scooter do 90mph.

Absolutely Yes! Laughing

My mate does cycle road racing, and would commute in his bright yellow lycra onesie. Rather than tow him, he'd slipstream behind me up to 50mph. Not sure I'd want to do that, breathing hard and choking on my exhaust Smile

Been towed on a BMX via the use of some long shoelaces. The going fast wasnt really the problem, it was the slowing down that caused issues, anyways we eventualy got a two up on the BMX run with IIRC somebody on the back of the scooter as well.

Its in this video if anybody can be bothered to watch it, the blue TS50x is my old bike, the downhill filming is done from the back of it as well Cool

Edit, forgot to add the link Laughing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2KSFyBXqBk&feature=PlayList&p=3D191A4940169C6D&index=0&playnext=1

Ignore the chavvy music, it does change after a minute or so.

edit #2: just watched the video for old times sake, the BMX bit is at the start so you wont have to bare the stupidity for long.
