Hi Laura, you're better off not using ICQ and just using MSN. I stopped using ICQ along time ago (used it for along time) but having to backup datafiles etc is a pain if you want to reinstall, MSN messenger is much easier, no backup and use it on any pc you want Smile

I used icq years ago and despite not really liking it was handy with the SMS feature - then that got really rubbish and unreliable so i switched to MSN.

I also used ICQ untill late 2000 - MSN has now taken over in the UK.

ICQ made an error with their SMS system where mobile phone users in this area could reply to ICQ SMS's FOR FREE. Man that was a good period - Completely free communication.

I stopped using ICQ years ago also. I use MSN now, although that's not without its problems.

Couple of weeks ago, my 'display name' mysteriously changed by itself, and all my contact list had gone - there was only 3 people on it, none of which I knew. Took me hours to get everybody back.

Use Trillian, it's a program that runs all these chat protocols at once so basically giving you a single group to talk to. It is compatible with Yahoo / AOL / MSN / ICQ. It is also free.

If you "buy" (lol) the pro version you can even change the skins.

It's how I chat to "both" my friends at the same time Razz

I just set up ICQ, it's handy for it's 'at work' feature where you can set it up with no worries about firewalls, ports, proxies and the like...
